Endpoint Security83
- The endpoint's TLS certificate is valid, in date, and uses a strong key. View diagnostics → Pass
- No authorisation is required to call this server. Every tool declares its destructiveHint and none is destructive, so open access doesn't expose one. See how to fix → View diagnostics → Partial
- HTTPS is enforced; there's no plaintext access path. View diagnostics → Pass
- The HSTS (Strict-Transport-Security) header is present. View diagnostics → Pass
- DNSSEC is configured correctly; the domain's records validate against the full chain to the root. View diagnostics → Pass
Transport & Reachability100
- Verified streamable-http transport via a live MCP handshake. View diagnostics → Pass
Schema Quality & AI Usability63
- 50% of prompts and resources have a non-trivial description (not blank, and not just the item's name).Partial
- AI-judged instruction clarity (excellent).Pass
- Context-footprint check failed: tool/resource definitions use about 938 tokens (~187/item across 5 items; 3 tools + 2 resources), over budget; trim descriptions and params. See how to fix → Fail
- Usage-examples check failed: none of the tools include examples. See how to fix → Fail
Stability & Change Management0
- Stability check failed: schema churn in the 13 days we've observed: 2 tool removals, 0 breaking changes, 0 auth/transport breaks, 3 additions. See how to fix → Fail
Tool Coverage100

- Structured output schemas are declared (100% of tools); any adoption earns full credit.Pass
Tool Safety100
- No prompt-injection markers were found in the server instructions, tool names or descriptions we captured.Pass
- We read all 3 captured tool definition(s), and no name or description among them implies an irreversible operation.Pass
- An AI judge read all 5 captured unit(s) of tool text and found none that tries to manipulate the model reading it.Pass
Capabilities73

How do I install the Equation.io MCP server?
Equation.io is a hosted endpoint at https://equation.io/mcp, so there is nothing to install locally. Ready-made configuration for Claude, Cursor, VS Code, Codex and 5 more is on this page, copied from each client's own documentation.

The tools this component advertises to a client, with an estimated token cost for each. Expand a tool to see its parameters and schema. The per-tool counts are indicative and are not scored directly; the schema's total context footprint is one signal in Schema Quality & AI Usability. decode_graph_url Read a graph link ~90
Decode an equation.io link (either the #-fragment form or the /g/ share form) into its list of equation rows, so you can edit them and build a new link with encode_graph_url. The rows use the equation.io syntax documented in the "syntax" MCP resource (also at https://equation.io/llms.txt).
| Name | Type | Req | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| url | string | yes | An equation.io graph URL. |

encode_graph_url Create a graph link ~482
Build an equation.io graph link, validating every row with the app's parser. Pass the COMPLETE graph in "equations": a flat array of strings, one equation or definition per string, in display order — when editing an existing graph (see decode_graph_url), include unchanged rows too. Rows can be: equations and inequalities in x,y (curves, regions; z makes it 3D), bare expressions in x, y (scalar fields — a curve is written y = f(x); complex plots via w), points (rows report "draggable"), parametric tuples in u,v — and definitions: "a = 2" (a draggable slider), "f(x) = x^3 - a x", coordinate fields like "r = sqrt(x^2+y^2)" for polar. t animates. Also derivatives d/dx, integrals int[a..b] f dx, sums sum[n=1..N], domain()/conformal()/iter() for complex plots, rgb()/hsl()/oklch() color fields, y' = … slope fields, random variables "X ~ Normal(m, s)"/"P(0<X<2)"/"E(X^2)", and "view(x = -5..5, y = -2..2)"/"camera(theta, phi)" framing rows. That is a menu, not the syntax: before your first non-trivial graph, read the "syntax" MCP resource (also at https://equation.io/llms.txt). The result returns text and structured data only. "rows" gives each equation's validation result: status "ok" with its kind, or "error" with the parser message. The link is usable only once every row is "ok". Give users the share_url (it unfurls to a preview card in chat apps); url is the equivalent #-fragment form. "preview" and "preview_omits" describe the share link's simplified static preview (t = 0, 3D as wireframes), which draws less than the interactive app. No image is attached to the tool response.
| Name | Type | Req | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| equations | array | yes | Every equation in the graph, in display order. One equation or definition per string — do not join rows with ";" (inside quoted text a ";" is data, and kept). |

| url | string | yes | Graph URL using a #-fragment. |

show_graph Show an interactive graph ~205
Display an interactive equation.io graph inside the conversation, with editable equations, sliders, pan/zoom, and 3D rotation. Use when the user asks to see or explore a graph. Pass the COMPLETE graph as "equations", one equation or definition per string, preserving unchanged rows when editing. For a slider use "a = 2" then "y = a sin(x)". For advanced syntax read the "syntax" resource (https://equation.io/llms.txt). Returns per-row validation and share links; a row with status "error" is not drawn until its text is corrected and the graph resubmitted. Use encode_graph_url for validation or link-only requests (including share-link preview notes). In clients without UI support, provide share_url.

What is the Equation.io MCP server?
Equation.io is an MCP server listed in the public MCP registry as io.equation/equation. Create interactive 2D and 3D graphs with validated equations, shareable links, and PNG previews. This page covers its hosted endpoint (https://equation.io/mcp).
Is the Equation.io MCP server safe to use?
Equation.io scores 71 out of 100 on VerifyMCP. That is a record of what we were able to check automatically, not an endorsement. The category breakdown on this page shows every signal behind the number, including the ones we could not confirm.
What tools does the Equation.io MCP server expose?
Equation.io exposes 3 tools: encode_graph_url, decode_graph_url, show_graph. Their descriptions and schemas cost roughly 777 tokens of context every time the server is loaded.
Does the Equation.io MCP server require authentication?
No. We connected to Equation.io without credentials and it answered, so anything it exposes is reachable by anyone who knows the address.
Is the Equation.io MCP server still maintained?
Equation.io is still listed as active in the MCP registry. We last reached this channel on 27 September 2026. Those dates come from our own scans of the registry and the channel itself, not from anything the publisher announced.
