MCP tools · 13 exposed · ~1,266 tokens

The tools this component advertises to a client, with an estimated token cost for each. Expand a tool to see its parameters and schema. The per-tool counts are indicative and are not scored directly; the schema's total context footprint is one signal in Schema Quality & AI Usability. A tool's description is untrusted text the model reads on every call, which is what makes this list a security surface and not just an inventory: how tool poisoning works →

Tool Tokens
create_strategy ~142

Save a new private strategy using custom Python files and complete rules text, on any Premiss-supported market and timeframe. Accepts either files (strategy.py plus helper modules) and rules, or a convenience template. Uses the same package format as the app. Custom code is loaded in the sandbox before saving. Returns code and revision; saving does not run a backtest.

get_profile ~83

Read the stable identity and workspace selected for this connection, plus the next step to take with the user. Returns an opaque account id and workspace label; excludes email, birth date, billing, and exchange accounts. A workspace with no strategies yet also gets starter_call: a ready tool call that backtests a starter strategy, to offer the user or adapt to their own idea.

get_run_data ~91

get_run_report ~119

Read the status and bounded performance report for one run in the connected workspace. Returns the tested market, interval, revision (the tested code), strategy_revision (the strategy's current revision, accepted by start_backtest and update_strategy), and recorded rules when verifiable. Historical plugin runs include the paired buy-and-hold baseline when completed. Paper reads require paper:read and do not start, stop, qualify, or modify a bot. Legacy runs without supported assumptions are labeled. Does not return raw market feeds.

list_research ~98

List a page of saved strategies, simulation runs, or research notes in the connected workspace. Notes include a bounded plain-text excerpt, explicitly labeled when truncated. start_backtest ~242

Queue a backtest of any saved strategy in the connected workspace and a matched buy-and-hold baseline. Accepts custom code and existing app strategies. Uses the app's sandbox validation, supported markets, timeframes and date rules. Requires the exact saved revision. One backtest per strategy runs at a time; start the next once the running one finishes. Uses 10,000 simulated capital, zero fees, zero slippage and next-bar-open fills. Read the report assumptions for historical runs. No plugin-only daily test or history caps. Returns an acceptance receipt with run ids, revision (the strategy revision to pass to start_backtest again), tested_revision (the tested code and parameters), queue (runs ahead in the shared backtest queue and an estimated wait) and poll_after_seconds, the interval before the next status check. update_strategy ~171

Replace the complete Python package and rules of an existing strategy using its exact current saved revision. Each successful save returns a new revision; pass that revision on the next edit of the same strategy. The submitted package replaces all existing files. The code is loaded in the sandbox before saving. Supports all Premiss markets and timeframes. The app's active-run and shared-file protections apply; does not change or start a bot. Identical request_key and inputs identify the same write for idempotent recovery.

How do I install the Premiss MCP server?

Premiss is a hosted endpoint at https://app.premissai.com/api/mcp/claude, so there is nothing to install locally. Ready-made configuration for Claude, Cursor, VS Code, Codex and 5 more is on this page, copied from each client's own documentation.

Common questions

What is the Premiss MCP server?

Premiss is an MCP server listed in the public MCP registry as io.github.founders-loralabs/premiss. Create Python strategies and backtest crypto, stocks and ETFs in Claude. Premiss account required. This page covers its hosted endpoint (https://app.premissai.com/api/mcp/claude).

Is the Premiss MCP server safe to use?

Premiss scores 87 out of 100 on VerifyMCP. That is a record of what we were able to check automatically, not an endorsement. The category breakdown on this page shows every signal behind the number, including the ones we could not confirm.

What tools does the Premiss MCP server expose?

Premiss exposes 13 tools: get_capabilities, get_profile, list_research, get_strategy, search_markets, and 8 more. Their descriptions and schemas cost roughly 1,266 tokens of context every time the server is loaded.

Does the Premiss MCP server require authentication?

Yes. Premiss asked us for credentials when we connected, so you will need to authorise it in your MCP client before it can do anything.

Is the Premiss MCP server still maintained?

Premiss is still listed as active in the MCP registry. We last reached this channel on 5 November 2026. Those dates come from our own scans of the registry and the channel itself, not from anything the publisher announced.
