A category scored 0 because we could not verify it: a data source with nothing on this package, evidence we could not reach, or a check we could not run. We only credit what we can confirm.

MCP tools · 6 exposed · ~751 tokens

The tools this component advertises to a client, with an estimated token cost for each. Expand a tool to see its parameters and schema. The per-tool counts are indicative and are not scored directly; the schema's total context footprint is one signal in Schema Quality & AI Usability. A tool's description is untrusted text the model reads on every call, which is what makes this list a security surface and not just an inventory: how tool poisoning works →

Tool Tokens
delete_document ~62

Permanently delete a FastOCR document and its stored files (original, text, searchable PDF). A document that is still processing cannot be deleted. Local files are not touched.

NameTypeReqDescription
document_idstringyesThe document id returned by ocr_file or list_documents.
NameTypeReqDescription
resultstringyes–

No examples provided.

get_balance ~104

Get how many pages the FastOCR account can still process. Costs no pages. Documents spend free pages first (they reset monthly), then contract pages, then Page Packs. pages_remaining counts the Page Packs only, so add the free and contract pages for the total. contract_* are omitted without an API contract. statement_pages_remaining is a separate balance that OCR does not spend. Check this before OCRing a large PDF; buy_pages_url is where to add pages.

Input schema present but exposes no named parameters.

get_document ~178

Get a FastOCR document's status, and optionally its text or searchable PDF. Statuses: awaiting_upload, processing, completed, partial (the account ran out of pages partway), failed. With output='text' or 'pdf' this waits up to 45 seconds; if the document is still processing, call it again. Fetching a result again costs no pages. Without output_path, long text and PDFs are saved in the system temp directory.

NameTypeReqDescription
document_idstringyesThe document id returned by ocr_file or list_documents.
outputstring–'status' (default) returns the status at once; 'text' or 'pdf' waits for the document to finish and fetches the result.
output_path––Optional absolute path for the result file. An existing file there is replaced.
NameTypeReqDescription
resultstringyes–

No examples provided.

list_documents ~45

List the most recent documents in the FastOCR account with their status and page counts.

NameTypeReqDescription
limitinteger–How many documents to return, newest first (1 to 100).
NameTypeReqDescription
resultstringyes–

No examples provided.

ocr_file ~261

OCR a local PDF or image with FastOCR and return its text or save a searchable PDF. Uploads the file, runs OCR and waits up to 45 seconds. With output='text' the text is returned; text longer than 20,000 characters is cut, and the full text is written to output_path or to <file>.ocr.txt next to the input file. With output='pdf' the searchable PDF is saved to output_path or to <file>.searchable.pdf next to the input file. Either default file replaces an earlier result with the same name. Each processed page uses one page of the account's balance; an image is one page. Large documents take longer: then this returns a document id, and get_document with the same output fetches the result. Never call ocr_file again for that file, which bills it again.

NameTypeReqDescription
outputstring–'text' returns the extracted text; 'pdf' saves a searchable PDF with a text layer.
output_path––Optional absolute path for the result file. An existing file there is replaced.
pathstringyesAbsolute path to a local PDF, PNG, JPG, JPEG, GIF, WebP or BMP file.
NameTypeReqDescription
resultstringyes–

No examples provided.

ocr_pdf ~101

The same tool as ocr_file, kept under its earlier name. Prefer ocr_file.

NameTypeReqDescription
outputstring–'text' returns the extracted text; 'pdf' saves a searchable PDF with a text layer.
output_path––Optional absolute path for the result file. An existing file there is replaced.
pathstringyesAbsolute path to a local PDF, PNG, JPG, JPEG, GIF, WebP or BMP file.

resultstringyes–

No examples provided.

Common questions

What is the FastOCR MCP server?

FastOCR is an MCP server listed in the public MCP registry as io.github.fastocr-org/fastocr-mcp. OCR scanned PDFs and images into text or searchable PDFs with the FastOCR API. This page covers its PyPI package (fastocr-mcp).

Is the FastOCR MCP server safe to use?

FastOCR scores 81 out of 100 on VerifyMCP. We found no known CVEs affecting it as of 4 November 2026. Its build provenance is signed and verified. That is a record of what we were able to check automatically, not an endorsement. The category breakdown on this page shows every signal behind the number, including the ones we could not confirm.

What tools does the FastOCR MCP server expose?

FastOCR exposes 6 tools: ocr_file, ocr_pdf, get_document, list_documents, get_balance, delete_document. Their descriptions and schemas cost roughly 751 tokens of context every time the server is loaded.

Is the FastOCR MCP server still maintained?

FastOCR is still listed as active in the MCP registry. We last reached this channel on 4 November 2026. Those dates come from our own scans of the registry and the channel itself, not from anything the publisher announced.

What licence is the FastOCR MCP server under?

FastOCR declares the MIT licence, which is OSI-approved. That covers the source only, and says nothing about the cost of any service it calls.
