## Trust breakdown

How this component scores in each security and reliability category. Every signal is checked automatically from public evidence about the published package, including repeated runs of it in an isolated sandbox, and we only credit what we can confirm. Scores are 0–100 per category. Scoring method: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring (what has changed: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring/changelog)

Scored 2026-11-05.

- **Supply Chain Security**: 100/100
  - No malware found by supply-chain analysis.
  - No known CVEs affecting this package version or its production dependencies.
  - No install/post-install scripts declared.
  - No production dependencies, so there is no dependency health to assess.
- **Provenance & Transparency**: 97/100
  - Source repository is publicly reachable at the declared URL.
  - Cryptographically verified build provenance (signed, bound to zamansheikh/memory-lean).
  - Clear OSI-approved license (MIT).
  - Actively maintained (last published 19 days ago).
  - Disclosure check failed: no security disclosure policy was found in the source repository.
- **Schema Quality & AI Usability**: 60/100
  - AI-judged instruction clarity (fair).
  - Tool/resource definitions use about 497 tokens (~45/item across 11 items; 11 tools + 0 resources), lean.
  - Usage-examples check failed: none of the tools include examples.
- **Stability & Change Management**: 73/100
  - Stability observed for 22 of 30 days with no destabilising changes; credit accrues until the full window elapses.
- **Tool Coverage**: 80/100
  - 100% of tools have a non-trivial description (not blank, and not just the tool's name).
  - 40% of tool parameters carry a description.
- **Tool Safety**: 75/100
  - No prompt-injection markers were found in the server instructions, tool names or descriptions we captured.
  - 0 of 3 tool(s) whose name or description implies an irreversible operation declare an MCP destructiveHint annotation; "delete_entities" implies "delete" and declares no destructiveHint at all, which the MCP spec reads as destructive by default.
  - An AI judge read all 11 captured unit(s) of tool text and found none that tries to manipulate the model reading it.
- **Capabilities**: 100/100
  - Implements a supported MCP spec version (2025-11-25); the latest is 2026-07-28.

## MCP tools (11)

### `search_nodes` (~95 tokens)

Find entities. Every whitespace-separated term must appear in the name, type, an observation, or the type of a relation touching the entity (case-insensitive). Returns a ranked list of names with counts and matching snippets, at most 'limit' (default 10); use open_nodes for full entities.

Input parameters:

- `limit` (number): Max results (default 10, max 50)
- `query` (string, required): Search terms

### `open_nodes` (~28 tokens)

Return full entities by exact name, with every relation touching them.

Input parameters:

- `names` (array, required)

### `read_graph` (~45 tokens)

Index of the graph: entity names grouped by type, with observation counts. Does not return observations; use open_nodes for those.

Input parameters:

- `entityType` (string): Only this type

### `create_entities` (~36 tokens)

Create entities; existing names are skipped. Each observation must be one fact of at most 300 characters.

Input parameters:

- `entities` (array, required)

### `create_relations` (~37 tokens)

Create relations (active voice, e.g. depends_on, blocks, applies_to); duplicates are skipped.

Input parameters:

- `relations` (array, required)

### `add_observations` (~61 tokens)

Add observations to existing entities. One fact each, at most 300 characters. Replace stale facts with delete_observations rather than appending corrections. Entities over 15 observations have their oldest dated ones moved to archive/.

Input parameters:

- `observations` (array, required)

### `archived_observations` (~76 tokens)

List the observations of an entity that were moved to archive/, oldest first. Pass 'restore' with exact texts to move them back onto the entity.

Input parameters:

- `entityName` (string, required)
- `query` (string): Only archived observations containing every term
- `restore` (array): Exact texts to move back onto the entity

### `rename_entity` (~47 tokens)

Rename an entity, keeping its observations and every relation touching it. Fails if the new name is taken.

Input parameters:

- `name` (string, required): Current name
- `newName` (string, required)

### `delete_entities` (~24 tokens)

Delete entities and every relation touching them.

Input parameters:

- `entityNames` (array, required)

### `delete_observations` (~28 tokens)

Delete specific observations (exact text) from entities.

Input parameters:

- `deletions` (array, required)

### `delete_relations` (~20 tokens)

Delete specific relations.

Input parameters:

- `relations` (array, required)

## Common questions

### What is the io.github.zamansheikh/memory-lean MCP server?

io.github.zamansheikh/memory-lean is an MCP server listed in the public MCP registry as io.github.zamansheikh/memory-lean. Token-lean memory for AI agents: a knowledge graph searched cheaply. Drop-in for server-memory. This page covers its npm package (memory-lean).

### Is the io.github.zamansheikh/memory-lean MCP server safe to use?

io.github.zamansheikh/memory-lean scores 85 out of 100 on VerifyMCP. We found no known CVEs affecting it as of 5 November 2026. It declares no install or post-install scripts. Its build provenance is signed and verified. That is a record of what we were able to check automatically, not an endorsement. The category breakdown on this page shows every signal behind the number, including the ones we could not confirm.

### What tools does the io.github.zamansheikh/memory-lean MCP server expose?

io.github.zamansheikh/memory-lean exposes 11 tools: search_nodes, open_nodes, read_graph, create_entities, create_relations, and 6 more. Their descriptions and schemas cost roughly 497 tokens of context every time the server is loaded.

### Is the io.github.zamansheikh/memory-lean MCP server still maintained?

io.github.zamansheikh/memory-lean is still listed as active in the MCP registry. We last reached this channel on 5 November 2026. Those dates come from our own scans of the registry and the channel itself, not from anything the publisher announced.

### What licence is the io.github.zamansheikh/memory-lean MCP server under?

io.github.zamansheikh/memory-lean declares the MIT licence, which is OSI-approved. That covers the source only, and says nothing about the cost of any service it calls.
