## Trust breakdown

How this component scores in each security and reliability category. Every signal is checked automatically against the live server, and we only credit what we can confirm. Scores are 0–100 per category. Scoring method: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring (what has changed: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring/changelog)

Scored 2026-11-05.

- **Endpoint Security**: 63/100
  - The endpoint's TLS certificate is valid, in date, and uses a strong key.
  - No authorisation is required to call this server. Every tool declares its destructiveHint and none is destructive, so open access doesn't expose one.
  - HTTPS check failed: the endpoint is reachable over plaintext HTTP.
  - HSTS check failed: the Strict-Transport-Security header is absent.
  - DNSSEC check failed: this domain isn't protected by DNSSEC.
- **Transport & Reachability**: 100/100
  - Verified streamable-http transport via a live MCP handshake.
- **Schema Quality & AI Usability**: 59/100
  - AI-judged instruction clarity (good).
  - Context-footprint check failed: tool/resource definitions use about 959 tokens (~239/item across 4 items; 4 tools + 0 resources), over budget; trim descriptions and params.
  - Usage-examples check failed: none of the tools include examples.
- **Stability & Change Management**: 10/100
  - Stability observed for 3 of 30 days with no destabilising changes; credit accrues until the full window elapses.
- **Tool Coverage**: 100/100
  - 100% of tools have a non-trivial description (not blank, and not just the tool's name).
  - 100% of tool parameters carry a description.
- **Tool Safety**: 100/100
  - No prompt-injection markers were found in the server instructions, tool names or descriptions we captured.
  - We read all 4 captured tool definition(s), and no name or description among them implies an irreversible operation.
  - An AI judge read all 5 captured unit(s) of tool text and found none that tries to manipulate the model reading it.
- **Capabilities**: 100/100
  - Implements a supported MCP spec version (2025-11-25); the latest is 2026-07-28.

## Install

### How do I install the Readmd MCP server?

Readmd is a hosted endpoint at https://readmd.canisell.xyz/mcp, so there is nothing to install locally. Ready-made configuration for Claude, Cursor, VS Code, Codex and 5 more is on this page, copied from each client's own documentation.

## MCP tools (4)

### `read_url` (~459 tokens)

Read a web page as Markdown (paid)

Read a web page as clean Markdown for an LLM. Fetches the URL (robots.txt respected), extracts the main content (drops navigation, headers, footers, sidebars, cookie banners) and returns GitHub-flavoured Markdown with headings, lists, tables, code blocks (with language) and absolute links, plus metadata (title, description, author, published/modified dates, site name, language, canonical URL, image), an outline of headings, word count and a token estimate. Options: mode=full for the whole page, links=false to save tokens, images=true, include_links=true for the link list, max_tokens to truncate, chunk_tokens to get RAG-ready chunks with heading paths. Also converts native Markdown, plain text, JSON and RSS/Atom feeds. Never charged when it fails: unreachable or 4xx/5xx targets, robots.txt disallow, unsupported types (PDF, images) and empty/JavaScript-only pages return an error and are not settled. $0.001 per page. Costs $0.001 USDC per call via x402 (charged only on success). Without an x402 wallet you get the payment terms and the paid HTTP URL instead.

Input parameters:

- `chunk_tokens` (integer): Also return `chunks`: the Markdown split at headings/paragraphs into pieces of at most about this many tokens, each with its heading path. For RAG.
- `images`: Keep images as ![alt](src). Default false.
- `include_links`: Also return `links`: every link in the content as {url, text} (up to 500). Default false.
- `links`: Keep inline links as [text](url) in the Markdown. Default true; false saves tokens.
- `max_tokens` (integer): Truncate the Markdown to about this many tokens, at a paragraph boundary (`truncated` tells you). Default: no limit (400k characters max).
- `mode` (string): "main" (default): the article / main content only, without navigation, headers, footers, sidebars and cookie banners. "full": the whole page body.
- `url` (string, required): Public http(s) URL of the page to read.

### `read_urls` (~320 tokens)

Read up to 10 web pages as Markdown (paid)

Read up to 10 web pages as clean Markdown in one call, in parallel: the same output as /v1/read for each URL, with a per-URL ok/error. $0.005 per call (= $0.0005 per page at 10 URLs). Charged only if at least one URL is read successfully. Costs $0.005 USDC per call via x402 (charged only on success).

- `urls` (array, required): Up to 10 public http(s) URLs, read in parallel.

### `about` (~28 tokens)

About Readmd (free)

Free. What Readmd does, prices of the paid tools and HTTP endpoints, and links to docs.

### `preview_url` (~66 tokens)

Preview a web page as Markdown (free)

Free. Fetches a URL and returns its title, metadata, outline, word and token counts and the first 500 characters of the clean Markdown. Use read_url (paid, $0.001) for the full text.

Input parameters:

- `url` (string, required): Public http(s) URL

## Common questions

### What is the Readmd MCP server?

Readmd is an MCP server listed in the public MCP registry as xyz.canisell/readmd. Any web page as clean, LLM-ready Markdown with metadata, outline and token counts. Free preview. This page covers its hosted endpoint (https://readmd.canisell.xyz/mcp).

### Is the Readmd MCP server safe to use?

Readmd scores 65 out of 100 on VerifyMCP. That is a record of what we were able to check automatically, not an endorsement. The category breakdown on this page shows every signal behind the number, including the ones we could not confirm.

### What tools does the Readmd MCP server expose?

Readmd exposes 4 tools: read_url, read_urls, about, preview_url. Their descriptions and schemas cost roughly 873 tokens of context every time the server is loaded.

### Does the Readmd MCP server require authentication?

No. We connected to Readmd without credentials and it answered, so anything it exposes is reachable by anyone who knows the address.

### Is the Readmd MCP server still maintained?

Readmd is still listed as active in the MCP registry. We last reached this channel on 5 November 2026. Those dates come from our own scans of the registry and the channel itself, not from anything the publisher announced.
