## Trust breakdown

How this component scores in each security and reliability category. Every signal is checked automatically from public evidence about the published package, including repeated runs of it in an isolated sandbox, and we only credit what we can confirm. Scores are 0–100 per category. Scoring method: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring (what has changed: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring/changelog)

Scored 2026-11-05.

- **Supply Chain Security**: 98/100
  - No malware found by supply-chain analysis.
  - No known CVEs affecting this package version or its production dependencies.
  - No install/post-install scripts declared.
  - 30 of 93 dependencies flagged as unhealthy.
- **Provenance & Transparency**: 45/100
  - Source repository is publicly reachable at the declared URL.
  - Provenance check failed: no build-provenance attestation is published.
  - Clear OSI-approved license (MIT).
  - Actively maintained (last published 9 days ago).
  - Disclosure check failed: no security disclosure policy was found in the source repository.
- **Schema Quality & AI Usability**: 67/100
  - AI-judged instruction clarity (excellent).
  - Context-footprint check failed: tool/resource definitions use about 1414 tokens (~176/item across 8 items; 8 tools + 0 resources), over budget; trim descriptions and params.
  - Usage-examples check failed: none of the tools include examples.
- **Stability & Change Management**: 0/100
  - Stability not yet verified: not enough scan history yet (needs a 30-day window).
- **Tool Coverage**: 97/100
  - 100% of tools have a non-trivial description (not blank, and not just the tool's name).
  - 92% of tool parameters carry a description.
- **Tool Safety**: 100/100
  - No prompt-injection markers were found in the server instructions, tool names or descriptions we captured.
  - We read all 8 captured tool definition(s), and no name or description among them implies an irreversible operation.
  - An AI judge read all 9 captured unit(s) of tool text and found none that tries to manipulate the model reading it.
- **Capabilities**: 100/100
  - Implements a supported MCP spec version (2025-11-25); the latest is 2026-07-28.

**Unverified: 1 category.** A category scored 0 because we could not verify it: a data source with nothing on this package, evidence we could not reach, or a check we could not run. We only credit what we can confirm.

## MCP tools (8)

### `search_models` (~122 tokens)

Search APIKO models

List the APIKO models this API key can use, with category (image / video / chat), list prices and generation modes. Free. Use it before get_model; never guess model ids. Text models are listed for reference: call them with the OpenAI-compatible API, not through this server.

Input parameters:

- `category` (string): Default "all".
- `limit` (integer): Default 20.
- `query` (string): Words that must all appear in the id, name or provider, e.g. "seedance" or "banana 2.1".

### `get_model` (~66 tokens)

Get APIKO model details

Read one model's request fields (input_schema: types, enums, defaults, required fields), endpoints, async/sync modes and price tiers. Free. Send only fields from input_schema to estimate_cost and the generate tools.

Input parameters:

- `model` (string, required): Exact model id from search_models.

### `estimate_cost` (~173 tokens)

Estimate generation cost

Validate a planned input against the model schema and quote its list price without submitting anything. Free. status "estimated" gives a number; "needs_input" names what is missing (e.g. reference_video_seconds); "token_billed" and "unknown" mean no reliable number exists, so never present them as a price. Show the user the model, input and estimate and wait for explicit approval before calling generate_image or generate_video.

Input parameters:

- `input` (object): Model request fields exactly as listed in get_model input_schema (e.g. {"prompt": "...", "resolution": "2k"}). Leave out model and async.
- `model` (string, required)
- `reference_video_seconds` (number): Total length in seconds of all reference_videos, when the input has any; used only for the estimate.

### `generate_image` (~270 tokens)

Generate or edit an image (billable)

BILLABLE: creates a paid image task charged to the user's APIKO balance. Only call after estimate_cost on the same input and the user's explicit approval of the model and cost. With reference images in input.images it edits (POST /v1/images/edits), otherwise it generates. The input is validated against the model schema first. Runs async when the model supports it and waits up to wait_seconds; if not done, poll with get_task. Never call again to check progress.

Input parameters:

- `client_request_id` (string): Your id for this one approved request (8-96 chars of letters, digits, . _ -). Reusing it with the same input returns the earlier task instead of charging twice.
- `input` (object): Model request fields exactly as listed in get_model input_schema (e.g. {"prompt": "...", "resolution": "2k"}). Leave out model and async.
- `max_cost_usd` (number): Budget the user approved; the call is refused if the estimate (or its upper bound) is higher or cannot be computed.
- `model` (string, required): Exact image model id.
- `prompt` (string): Shortcut for input.prompt; give the prompt once.
- `wait_seconds` (integer): Seconds to wait for the result (default 30).

### `generate_video` (~277 tokens)

Generate a video (billable)

BILLABLE: creates a paid video task (POST /v1/videos) charged per second to the user's APIKO balance. Only call after estimate_cost on the same input and the user's explicit approval of the model, duration, resolution and cost. Reference videos add billed seconds. Returns a task_id at once; poll with get_task (videos take minutes).

- `model` (string, required): Exact video model id.
- `prompt` (string): Shortcut for input.prompt; give the prompt once.
- `reference_video_seconds` (number): Total reference video length, for the cost check only; not sent.
- `wait_seconds` (integer): Seconds to wait (default 0; videos take minutes, use get_task).

### `get_task` (~97 tokens)

Get task status and results

Read an image or video task: status (queued, in_progress, completed, failed), progress, result_urls and fail_reason. Free. wait_seconds (0-45, default 30) keeps polling until the task finishes or the time runs out. Failed tasks are refunded automatically. Result links last 24 hours.

Input parameters:

- `task_id` (string, required): task_id returned by generate_image or generate_video.
- `wait_seconds` (integer)

### `check_balance` (~58 tokens)

Check key limit and usage

Show what this API key has spent and its own spending limit, if it has one. Free. Keys without a limit draw on the account balance, which API keys cannot read; the user sees it at https://apiko.app/dashboard/billing.

### `upload_image` (~147 tokens)

Upload a reference image

Upload a JPEG, PNG or WebP (up to 10 MB) and get a public https://img.apiko.app URL for reference fields such as images, first_image_url or reference_image_urls. Free (per key: 60 per minute, 1,000 per day). Give exactly one of path (a local file the user named) or url. The uploaded copy is public to anyone with the link and deleted after 72 hours, so only upload files the user asked to use.

Input parameters:

- `path` (string): Local file path (absolute, ~/..., or relative to the server's working directory).
- `url` (string): Public http(s) image URL to copy.

## Common questions

### What is the APIKO MCP server?

APIKO is an MCP server listed in the public MCP registry as io.github.tong0619453646-dev/apiko-mcp. Look up APIKO image and video models, quote prices, generate media and track spend. This page covers its npm package (apiko-mcp).

### Is the APIKO MCP server safe to use?

APIKO scores 68 out of 100 on VerifyMCP. We found no known CVEs affecting it as of 5 November 2026. It declares no install or post-install scripts. That is a record of what we were able to check automatically, not an endorsement. The category breakdown on this page shows every signal behind the number, including the ones we could not confirm.

### What tools does the APIKO MCP server expose?

APIKO exposes 8 tools: search_models, get_model, estimate_cost, generate_image, generate_video, and 3 more. Their descriptions and schemas cost roughly 1,210 tokens of context every time the server is loaded.

### Is the APIKO MCP server still maintained?

APIKO is still listed as active in the MCP registry. We last reached this channel on 5 November 2026. Those dates come from our own scans of the registry and the channel itself, not from anything the publisher announced.

### What licence is the APIKO MCP server under?

APIKO declares the MIT licence, which is OSI-approved. That covers the source only, and says nothing about the cost of any service it calls.
