## Trust breakdown

How this component scores in each security and reliability category. Every signal is checked automatically from public evidence about the published package, including repeated runs of it in an isolated sandbox, and we only credit what we can confirm. Scores are 0–100 per category. Scoring method: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring (what has changed: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring/changelog)

Scored 2026-10-16.

- **Supply Chain Security**: 98/100
  - No malware found by supply-chain analysis.
  - No known CVEs affecting this package version or its production dependencies.
  - No install/post-install scripts declared.
  - 32 of 96 dependencies flagged as unhealthy.
- **Provenance & Transparency**: 97/100
  - Source repository is publicly reachable at the declared URL.
  - Cryptographically verified build provenance (signed, bound to roamproxy/roamproxy-mcp).
  - Clear OSI-approved license (MIT).
  - Actively maintained (last published 6 days ago).
  - Disclosure check failed: no security disclosure policy was found in the source repository.
- **Schema Quality & AI Usability**: 68/100
  - AI-judged instruction clarity (excellent).
  - Context-footprint check failed: tool/resource definitions use about 798 tokens (~199/item across 4 items; 4 tools + 0 resources), over budget; trim descriptions and params.
  - Usage-examples check failed: none of the tools include examples.
- **Stability & Change Management**: 0/100
  - Stability not yet verified: not enough scan history yet (needs a 30-day window).
- **Tool Coverage**: 100/100
  - 100% of tools have a non-trivial description (not blank, and not just the tool's name).
  - 100% of tool parameters carry a description.
- **Tool Safety**: 100/100
  - No prompt-injection markers were found in the server instructions, tool names or descriptions we captured.
  - We read all 4 captured tool definition(s), and no name or description among them implies an irreversible operation.
  - An AI judge read all 4 captured unit(s) of tool text and found none that tries to manipulate the model reading it.
- **Capabilities**: 100/100
  - Implements a supported MCP spec version (2025-11-25); the latest is 2026-07-28.

**Unverified: 1 category.** A category scored 0 because we could not verify it: a data source with nothing on this package, evidence we could not reach, or a check we could not run. We only credit what we can confirm.

## MCP tools (4)

### `fetch_url` (~307 tokens)

Fetch a URL through a RoamProxy IP

Fetch a web page or API through a RoamProxy residential (or datacenter/mobile) IP in the chosen country/city. Returns HTTP status and the body as markdown (default), plain text or raw HTML. Traffic is billed to the user's RoamProxy wallet.

Input parameters:

- `body` (string): Request body for POST
- `city` (string): City name, e.g. 'Los Angeles'. Requires country and state. If the city has no stock the gateway falls back to the state, then the country; check_ip shows where you landed.
- `country` (string): ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country code, e.g. 'us', 'de', 'jp'. Omit for any country.
- `format` (string): How to return HTML pages. Default markdown.
- `headers` (object): Extra request headers
- `max_chars` (integer): Truncate the body to this many characters. Default 20000.
- `method` (string): Default GET
- `product` (string): Proxy pool. Default residential.
- `session` (string): Sticky session id (letters/digits). Same id = same exit IP for a while. Omit to rotate the IP on every request.
- `state` (string): State/region code, e.g. 'ca', 'ny', 'tx' (US full names like 'California' are also accepted). Requires country.
- `url` (string, required): http(s) URL to fetch

### `get_proxy` (~243 tokens)

Get a RoamProxy connection string

Build a ready-to-use proxy URL (http:// or socks5://user:pass@host:port) for the chosen country/city/session, to plug into Playwright, Puppeteer, curl, requests, Scrapy, an antidetect browser, etc.

Input parameters:

- `city` (string): City name, e.g. 'Los Angeles'. Requires country and state. If the city has no stock the gateway falls back to the state, then the country; check_ip shows where you landed.
- `country` (string): ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country code, e.g. 'us', 'de', 'jp'. Omit for any country.
- `product` (string): Proxy pool. Default residential.
- `protocol` (string): Default http. Both use the same gateway port.
- `session` (string): Sticky session id (letters/digits). Same id = same exit IP for a while. Omit to rotate the IP on every request.
- `state` (string): State/region code, e.g. 'ca', 'ny', 'tx' (US full names like 'California' are also accepted). Requires country.

### `check_ip` (~205 tokens)

Check the exit IP

Make one small request through the proxy and report the exit IP, city, country and ISP/ASN. Useful to verify geo-targeting before a job.

- `session` (string): Sticky session id (letters/digits). Same id = same exit IP for a while. Omit to rotate the IP on every request.
- `state` (string): State/region code, e.g. 'ca', 'ny', 'tx' (US full names like 'California' are also accepted). Requires country.

### `account_status` (~43 tokens)

RoamProxy account status

Show wallet balance (USD), per-GB prices, traffic used in the last 7 days (UTC days), and rented static IPs with their proxy URLs and expiry.

## Common questions

### What is the RoamProxy MCP server?

RoamProxy is an MCP server listed in the public MCP registry as io.github.roamproxy/roamproxy-mcp. Fetch pages and get proxies via residential, datacenter and mobile IPs in 190+ countries. This page covers its npm package (roamproxy-mcp).

### Is the RoamProxy MCP server safe to use?

RoamProxy scores 79 out of 100 on VerifyMCP. We found no known CVEs affecting it as of 16 October 2026. It declares no install or post-install scripts. Its build provenance is signed and verified. That is a record of what we were able to check automatically, not an endorsement. The category breakdown on this page shows every signal behind the number, including the ones we could not confirm.

### What tools does the RoamProxy MCP server expose?

RoamProxy exposes 4 tools: fetch_url, get_proxy, check_ip, account_status. Their descriptions and schemas cost roughly 798 tokens of context every time the server is loaded.

### Is the RoamProxy MCP server still maintained?

RoamProxy is still listed as active in the MCP registry. We last reached this channel on 16 October 2026. Those dates come from our own scans of the registry and the channel itself, not from anything the publisher announced.

### What licence is the RoamProxy MCP server under?

RoamProxy declares the MIT licence, which is OSI-approved. That covers the source only, and says nothing about the cost of any service it calls.
