## Trust breakdown

How this component scores in each security and reliability category. Every signal is checked automatically against the live server, and we only credit what we can confirm. Scores are 0–100 per category. Scoring method: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring (what has changed: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring/changelog)

Scored 2026-10-23.

- **Endpoint Security**: 80/100
  - The endpoint's TLS certificate is valid, in date, and uses a strong key.
  - No authorisation is required to call this server. Every tool declares its destructiveHint and none is destructive, so open access doesn't expose one.
  - HTTPS is enforced; there's no plaintext access path.
  - The HSTS (Strict-Transport-Security) header is present.
  - DNSSEC check failed: this domain isn't protected by DNSSEC.
- **Transport & Reachability**: 100/100
  - Verified streamable-http transport via a live MCP handshake.
- **Schema Quality & AI Usability**: 66/100
  - AI-judged instruction clarity (excellent).
  - Context-footprint check failed: tool/resource definitions use about 2645 tokens (~188/item across 14 items; 14 tools + 0 resources), over budget; trim descriptions and params.
  - Usage-examples check failed: none of the tools include examples.
- **Stability & Change Management**: 53/100
  - Stability observed for 16 of 30 days with no destabilising changes; credit accrues until the full window elapses.
- **Tool Coverage**: 100/100
  - 100% of tools have a non-trivial description (not blank, and not just the tool's name).
  - 100% of tool parameters carry a description.
- **Tool Safety**: 100/100
  - No prompt-injection markers were found in the server instructions, tool names or descriptions we captured.
  - We read all 14 captured tool definition(s), and no name or description among them implies an irreversible operation.
  - An AI judge read all 15 captured unit(s) of tool text and found none that tries to manipulate the model reading it.
- **Capabilities**: 100/100
  - Implements a supported MCP spec version (2025-11-25); the latest is 2026-07-28.

## MCP tools (14)

### `barevalue_register` (~264 tokens)

Create account and API key

Creates a Barevalue account and returns a working API key in one call, with no password and no email click before the first order. The email is the address of the person the account is for, and that person receives a verification link. Until the link is clicked the account has a small free allowance ("allowance" in the result), and after it the full free monthly allowance. The returned api_key is what the other tools take as api_key. An address that already has an account gets no second key here (registration_failed): its owner makes one at barevalue.com, Settings, API Keys.

Input parameters:

- `agent_name` (string): Optional name of the agent or app creating the account, e.g. "Claude", "ChatGPT"
- `email` (string, required): Email address of the person the account is for
- `first_name` (string): Optional first name of that person
- `last_name` (string): Optional last name of that person
- `ref` (string): Optional code of the listing the agent was installed from, as printed in that listing's install instructions (e.g. "docker"). Lowercase letters, digits and hyphens, up to 32 characters. A value of an…

### `barevalue_pricing` (~43 tokens)

Pricing

What AI podcast editing costs and what it includes: the free monthly allowance, plans, supported audio formats, languages, length limits and features. No API key needed.

### `barevalue_api_status` (~25 tokens)

Service status

Service health, queue depth and expected processing times. No API key needed.

### `barevalue_account` (~68 tokens)

Account

Account details: the editing minutes left in the free monthly allowance, credit balance and any limits on the account.

Input parameters:

- `api_key` (string): Barevalue API key (bv_sk_...), as returned by barevalue_register. Not needed when the connection already sends an Authorization: Bearer header.

### `barevalue_estimate` (~96 tokens)

Estimate an order

Reports what an AI podcast edit of a given length would use from the account and whether the account can cover it, before any order is placed. Nothing is charged.

Input parameters:

- `api_key` (string): Barevalue API key (bv_sk_...), as returned by barevalue_register. Not needed when the connection already sends an Authorization: Bearer header.
- `duration_minutes` (number, required): Audio length in minutes (1-60)

### `barevalue_validate` (~105 tokens)

Pre-check an audio URL

Pre-checks a podcast or other audio recording at a URL without ordering an edit: confirms the link downloads, measures the length and checks that the file is speech and not music or silence. Nothing is charged.

Input parameters:

- `api_key` (string): Barevalue API key (bv_sk_...), as returned by barevalue_register. Not needed when the connection already sends an Authorization: Bearer header.
- `file_url` (string, required): Direct, publicly downloadable URL of the audio file

### `barevalue_upload` (~213 tokens)

Upload a local audio file

For a recording that is a file on the machine the agent runs on and has no link. Returns an upload_id and a ready curl command that sends the file from that machine (storage answers 204 when the upload worked). The upload_id is then accepted by barevalue_submit_url in place of file_url. One audio file, up to 750 MB and 60 minutes. The upload link works for 15 minutes and an upload can be ordered once. A recording that already has a direct link needs no upload: barevalue_submit_url takes the link itself.

Input parameters:

- `api_key` (string): Barevalue API key (bv_sk_...), as returned by barevalue_register. Not needed when the connection already sends an Authorization: Bearer header.
- `filename` (string, required): Name of the file, with its extension, e.g. "episode-12.mp3"
- `size_bytes` (number): Optional size of the file in bytes. With it, a file that is too large is refused at once

### `barevalue_submit_url` (~566 tokens)

Order editing

Edits a podcast episode or interview recording with AI and returns the finished audio. The edit removes background noise, hum and hiss, trims filler words such as um and uh, cuts long pauses and dead air, evens out the levels of the speakers and masters the loudness to -16 LUFS. Cuts or other changes can be asked for in special_instructions. Every order includes a transcript with speaker labels, and an episode of 10 minutes or more also gets show notes and short highlight clips for social media. It takes a recording in MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, AAC, OGG, WMA or AIFF, in any of 58 languages, and delivers MP3 at up to 320 kbps, with a WAV as well when the original is lossless. Audio only, one file with one audio track, up to 60 minutes. It edits the recording itself and creates no audio with AI: no translation or dubbing, no synthetic voices, no generated music or sound effects, no video. Free within the monthly allowance of the account. Returns an order_id. The order's progress and result are reported by barevalue_status. A file with no link is ordered with the upload_id that barevalue_upload returns, in place of file_url.

Input parameters:

- `api_key` (string): Barevalue API key (bv_sk_...), as returned by barevalue_register. Not needed when the connection already sends an Authorization: Bearer header.
- `duration_minutes` (number): Optional audio length in minutes if known. The real length is measured after download.
- `episode_name` (string, required): Name of this episode
- `episode_number` (string): Optional episode number, digits only (e.g. "42"). Anything else is ignored.
- `file_url` (string): Direct, publicly downloadable URL of the raw recording (not a web page that plays it). Either this or upload_id, not both.
- `guest_names` (array): Optional guest names (max 10)
- `host_names` (array): Optional host names (max 5), used to label the speakers in the transcript and show notes
- `idempotency_key` (string): Optional UUID. A retry that carries the same value does not create a second order. Generated when omitted.
- `podcast_name` (string, required): Name of the podcast
- `special_instructions` (string): Optional instructions for the AI editor in plain language, e.g. "Remove the sponsor read", "Keep the blooper at the end", "Cut from 12:30 to 14:05"
- `upload_id` (string): The upload_id from barevalue_upload, once the file has been uploaded. Either this or file_url, not both.

### `barevalue_status` (~145 tokens)

Order status

Status of a podcast editing order. While processing it reports the current step, percentage and estimated seconds remaining. When status is "done" it lists each file with its kind (edited_audio, clip, show_notes, transcript and others) and a download URL valid for 24 hours, says what the edit changed, and says what is not included and why. When status is "failed" it gives the reason and what can be done next.

Input parameters:

- `api_key` (string): Barevalue API key (bv_sk_...), as returned by barevalue_register. Not needed when the connection already sends an Authorization: Bearer header.
- `order_id` (number, required): Order ID

### `barevalue_content` (~139 tokens)

Show notes and transcript as text

The show notes, the full transcript with speaker labels and the edit summary of an edited podcast episode, as text, with no file to download and parse. Available once barevalue_status reports "done". The include parameter limits the answer to the parts named; the transcript of a long episode is large.

Input parameters:

- `api_key` (string): Barevalue API key (bv_sk_...), as returned by barevalue_register. Not needed when the connection already sends an Authorization: Bearer header.
- `include` (string): Optional comma-separated list of summary, show_notes, transcript. All three when omitted.
- `order_id` (number, required): Order ID

### `barevalue_feedback` (~149 tokens)

Rate an edit

Records the user's rating of a finished order, positive or negative, with an optional comment and list of issues. Our team is told. A second rating for the same order replaces the first, comment included.

Input parameters:

- `api_key` (string): Barevalue API key (bv_sk_...), as returned by barevalue_register. Not needed when the connection already sends an Authorization: Bearer header.
- `comment` (string): Optional: what the user said, in the user's own words (max 2000 characters)
- `issues` (array): Optional: what was wrong
- `order_id` (number, required): Order ID
- `rating` (string, required): Whether the user is happy with the edit

### `barevalue_request_revision` (~206 tokens)

Ask for an edit to be changed

Re-edits a finished order with new instructions, for example "keep the story about the dog, it was cut" or "the intro music is too loud". It creates a new order from the original recording and returns its order_id. The progress and result of that order are reported by barevalue_status. It uses the same minutes from the allowance as the original order. Every revision is made from the original recording, so one request carries everything that is to be different. It returns the edited audio. The show notes and clips are made again only when the instructions ask for them.

Input parameters:

- `api_key` (string): Barevalue API key (bv_sk_...), as returned by barevalue_register. Not needed when the connection already sends an Authorization: Bearer header.
- `instructions` (string, required): What to change, in plain language (10 to 2000 characters)
- `order_id` (number, required): The finished order to change (the original, not an earlier revision)

### `barevalue_updates` (~176 tokens)

What is new on the account

Everything that happened on the account since a given moment: an order was received, is ready, or failed and why, or the email address was confirmed. It carries what our emails say, so the user can follow an order without watching an inbox. The result includes a cursor, and a call that gives it back as since starts where this one ended. Without since it covers the last 24 hours. Each update has an id that never changes, so the same update can be recognised if it comes back on two consecutive calls.

Input parameters:

- `api_key` (string): Barevalue API key (bv_sk_...), as returned by barevalue_register. Not needed when the connection already sends an Authorization: Bearer header.
- `since` (string): The cursor returned by the previous call, or an ISO 8601 date and time

### `barevalue_list_orders` (~100 tokens)

List orders

Recent orders on the account with their status.

Input parameters:

- `api_key` (string): Barevalue API key (bv_sk_...), as returned by barevalue_register. Not needed when the connection already sends an Authorization: Bearer header.
- `page` (number): Page number (default 1)
- `per_page` (number): Results per page (default 20, max 100)
- `status` (string): Only orders with this status

## Common questions

### What is the Barevalue MCP server?

Barevalue is an MCP server listed in the public MCP registry as io.github.quietnotion/barevalue. AI podcast editing. Sign up in one call, send audio by link or from disk, get an edited episode. This page covers its hosted endpoint (https://barevalue.com/mcp).

### Is the Barevalue MCP server safe to use?

Barevalue scores 79 out of 100 on VerifyMCP. That is a record of what we were able to check automatically, not an endorsement. The category breakdown on this page shows every signal behind the number, including the ones we could not confirm.

### What tools does the Barevalue MCP server expose?

Barevalue exposes 14 tools: barevalue_register, barevalue_pricing, barevalue_api_status, barevalue_account, barevalue_estimate, and 9 more. Their descriptions and schemas cost roughly 2,295 tokens of context every time the server is loaded.

### Does the Barevalue MCP server require authentication?

No. We connected to Barevalue without credentials and it answered, so anything it exposes is reachable by anyone who knows the address.

### Is the Barevalue MCP server still maintained?

Barevalue is still listed as active in the MCP registry. We last reached this channel on 23 October 2026. Those dates come from our own scans of the registry and the channel itself, not from anything the publisher announced.
