## Trust breakdown

How this component scores in each security and reliability category. Every signal is checked automatically from public evidence about the published package, including repeated runs of it in an isolated sandbox, and we only credit what we can confirm. Scores are 0–100 per category. Scoring method: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring (what has changed: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring/changelog)

Scored 2026-11-05.

- **Schema Quality & AI Usability**: 69/100
  - AI-judged instruction clarity (good).
  - Tool/resource definitions use about 292 tokens (~146/item across 2 items; 2 tools + 0 resources), lean.
  - Usage-examples check failed: none of the tools include examples.
- **Stability & Change Management**: 100/100
  - No destabilizing schema changes in the last 30 days.
- **Tool Coverage**: 71/100
  - 100% of tools have a non-trivial description (not blank, and not just the tool's name).
  - 0% of tool parameters carry a description.
  - Structured output schemas are declared (100% of tools); any adoption earns full credit.
- **Tool Safety**: 100/100
  - No prompt-injection markers were found in the server instructions, tool names or descriptions we captured.
  - We read all 2 captured tool definition(s), and no name or description among them implies an irreversible operation.
  - An AI judge read all 2 captured unit(s) of tool text and found none that tries to manipulate the model reading it.

## MCP tools (2)

### `search_icons` (~97 tokens)

Search Icons

Finds Lucide icons by keyword, searching icon names and tags. Use this when you need an icon but don't know its exact name, or when the user describes an icon in plain words ("trash can", "cog", "paper plane"). Returns the best matching icon names with their tags; pass one of those names to generate_icons. Fully offline, no API key.

Input parameters:

- `limit` (integer)
- `query` (string, required)

Output parameters:

- `result` (string)

### `generate_icons` (~195 tokens)

Generate Icons

Generates one icon or a whole matching set of Lucide icons as styled SVG markup. Each entry in `icons` can be an exact icon name ("settings") or a plain-words query ("trash can") which is resolved to the best match. Every icon is rendered with the SAME stroke_width, color, and size, so a list of many gives you a visually consistent set for a page or app. stroke_width is 0.5-4 (2 is Lucide's default); color is 'currentColor', a hex like '#2f6bff', or a CSS name like 'red'; size is pixels 1-1024. Returns JSON with the styled SVG for each icon, which you can save as .svg files. Fully offline, no API key.

Input parameters:

- `color` (string)
- `icons` (array, required)
- `size` (integer)
- `stroke_width` (number)

Output parameters:

- `result` (string)

## Common questions

### What is the Icon MCP server?

Icon MCP is listed in the public MCP registry as io.github.pratham-jain33/icon-mcp. Lucide icon sets for AI: search 2000+ icons, style them, batch-export SVG. Offline, no key. This page covers its PyPI package (icon-mcp).

### Is the Icon MCP server safe to use?

Icon MCP scores 67 out of 100 on VerifyMCP. We found no known CVEs affecting it as of 5 November 2026. It declares no install or post-install scripts. That is a record of what we were able to check automatically, not an endorsement. The category breakdown on this page shows every signal behind the number, including the ones we could not confirm.

### What tools does the Icon MCP server expose?

Icon MCP exposes 2 tools: search_icons, generate_icons. Their descriptions and schemas cost roughly 292 tokens of context every time the server is loaded.

### Is the Icon MCP server still maintained?

Icon MCP is still listed as active in the MCP registry. We last reached this channel on 5 November 2026. Those dates come from our own scans of the registry and the channel itself, not from anything the publisher announced.

### What licence is the Icon MCP server under?

Icon MCP declares the MIT licence, which is OSI-approved. That covers the source only, and says nothing about the cost of any service it calls.

### What did VerifyMCP test on the Icon MCP server?

VerifyMCP ran 15 checks on Icon MCP, covering Known CVEs, Install scripts, Dependency health, Source repository and 11 more. One item could not be completed, a gap on our side rather than a finding about Icon MCP: Malware scan. Endpoint Security and Transport & Reachability do not apply to a PyPI package, so they were not tested. The score does not measure everything, and the scoring documentation lists what it leaves out.
