## Trust breakdown

How this component scores in each security and reliability category. Every signal is checked automatically from public evidence about the published package, including repeated runs of it in an isolated sandbox, and we only credit what we can confirm. Scores are 0–100 per category. Scoring method: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring (what has changed: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring/changelog)

Scored 2026-11-05.

- **Supply Chain Security**: 100/100
  - No malware found by supply-chain analysis.
  - No known CVEs affecting this package version or its production dependencies.
  - No install/post-install scripts declared.
  - No production dependencies, so there is no dependency health to assess.
- **Provenance & Transparency**: 97/100
  - Source repository is publicly reachable at the declared URL.
  - Cryptographically verified build provenance (signed, bound to pipeworx-io/mcp-census-trade).
  - Clear OSI-approved license (MIT).
  - Actively maintained (last published 5 days ago).
  - Disclosure check failed: no security disclosure policy was found in the source repository.
- **Schema Quality & AI Usability**: 66/100
  - AI-judged instruction clarity (excellent).
  - Context-footprint check failed: tool/resource definitions use about 975 tokens (~243/item across 4 items; 4 tools + 0 resources), over budget; trim descriptions and params.
  - Usage-examples check failed: none of the tools include examples.
- **Stability & Change Management**: 23/100
  - Stability observed for 7 of 30 days with no destabilising changes; credit accrues until the full window elapses.
- **Tool Coverage**: 100/100
  - 100% of tools have a non-trivial description (not blank, and not just the tool's name).
  - 100% of tool parameters carry a description.
- **Tool Safety**: 100/100
  - No prompt-injection markers were found in the server instructions, tool names or descriptions we captured.
  - We read all 4 captured tool definition(s), and no name or description among them implies an irreversible operation.
  - An AI judge read all 5 captured unit(s) of tool text and found none that tries to manipulate the model reading it.
- **Capabilities**: 100/100
  - Implements a supported MCP spec version (2025-11-25); the latest is 2026-07-28.

## MCP tools (4)

### `census_imports` (~282 tokens)

Search US import data by HS commodity code and/or country. Returns import values, quantities, and commodity details. Pass `country` as a plain English name (e.g. "China"). Omit hs_code for total imports from a country; omit country for all countries combined.

Input parameters:

- `country` (string): Country name in plain English (e.g., "Mexico", "South Korea", "European Union"). Preferred over country_code — this is resolved for you. Optional — omit for all countries combined.
- `country_code` (string): Census Schedule C country code if you already have one (e.g., "5700" China, "2010" Mexico). NOT an ISO code — "MX" and "CN" will not work. Prefer `country` and pass a name instead. Optional.
- `hs_code` (string): HS commodity code at 2, 4, or 6 digit level (e.g., "8471" for computers, "87" for vehicles). Optional — omit for total imports across all commodities.
- `limit` (number): Maximum number of records to return (default 20)
- `month` (string): Trade month 01-12 (e.g., "06" for June). Optional — omit for annual data.
- `year` (string, required): Trade year (e.g., "2024")

### `census_exports` (~266 tokens)

Search US export data by HS commodity code and/or country. Returns export values, quantities, and commodity details. Pass `country` as a plain English name (e.g. "Mexico"). Omit hs_code for total exports to a country; omit country for all countries combined.

Optional.
- `hs_code` (string): HS commodity code at 2, 4, or 6 digit level (e.g., "8471" for computers). Optional — omit for total exports across all commodities.
- `limit` (number): Maximum number of records to return (default 20)
- `month` (string): Trade month 01-12. Optional — omit for annual data.
- `year` (string, required): Trade year (e.g., "2024")

### `census_trade_balance` (~120 tokens)

Check US trade balance with a specific country for a given year. Returns net trade value and breakdown by end-use commodity category.

Input parameters:

- `country` (string): Country name in plain English (e.g., "Mexico", "China"). Preferred — resolved for you. Pass this OR country_code.
- `country_code` (string): Census Schedule C country code (e.g., "5700" China, "2010" Mexico). NOT an ISO code. Prefer `country`.
- `year` (string, required): Trade year (e.g., "2024")

### `census_trade_trends` (~252 tokens)

Monthly US trade trends with ONE trading partner — month-by-month imports and exports for a country, optionally narrowed to an HS commodity, to show seasonality and shifts. A country is required: an unfiltered monthly query spans every partner and the Census API cannot return it in time. For all-countries totals use census_imports / census_exports instead.

Input parameters:

- `country` (string): Country name in plain English (e.g., "Mexico"). Preferred — resolved for you. REQUIRED unless you pass country_code.
- `country_code` (string): Census Schedule C country code (e.g. "5700" China, "2010" Mexico). NOT an ISO code. Prefer `country`. Satisfies the country requirement.
- `end_year` (string): End year (e.g., "2024"). Optional — defaults to the last fully-published year (last calendar year; Census publishes on a lag).
- `hs_code` (string): HS commodity code. Optional — omit for aggregate trade.
- `start_year` (string): Start year (e.g., "2022"). Optional — defaults to the same year as end_year, i.e. a single year. Maximum span 3 years.
