## Trust breakdown

How this component scores in each security and reliability category. Every signal is checked automatically from public evidence about the published package, including repeated runs of it in an isolated sandbox, and we only credit what we can confirm. Scores are 0–100 per category. Scoring method: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring (what has changed: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring/changelog)

Scored 2026-11-05.

- **Supply Chain Security**: 100/100
  - No malware found by supply-chain analysis.
  - No known CVEs affecting this package version or its production dependencies.
  - No install/post-install scripts declared.
  - No production dependencies, so there is no dependency health to assess.
- **Provenance & Transparency**: 97/100
  - Source repository is publicly reachable at the declared URL.
  - Cryptographically verified build provenance (signed, bound to pipeworx-io/mcp-aviationstack).
  - Clear OSI-approved license (MIT).
  - Actively maintained (last published 5 days ago).
  - Disclosure check failed: no security disclosure policy was found in the source repository.
- **Schema Quality & AI Usability**: 63/100
  - AI-judged instruction clarity (good).
  - Context-footprint check failed: tool/resource definitions use about 907 tokens (~129/item across 7 items; 7 tools + 0 resources), over budget; trim descriptions and params.
  - Usage-examples check failed: none of the tools include examples.
- **Stability & Change Management**: 23/100
  - Stability observed for 7 of 30 days with no destabilising changes; credit accrues until the full window elapses.
- **Tool Coverage**: 88/100
  - 100% of tools have a non-trivial description (not blank, and not just the tool's name).
  - 59% of tool parameters carry a description.
  - Structured output schemas are declared (14% of tools); any adoption earns full credit.
- **Tool Safety**: 100/100
  - No prompt-injection markers were found in the server instructions, tool names or descriptions we captured.
  - We read all 7 captured tool definition(s), and no name or description among them implies an irreversible operation.
  - An AI judge read all 8 captured unit(s) of tool text and found none that tries to manipulate the model reading it.
- **Capabilities**: 100/100
  - Implements a supported MCP spec version (2025-11-25); the latest is 2026-07-28.

## MCP tools (7)

### `flights` (~154 tokens)

Real-time and scheduled flights with departure/arrival airport, time, gate, status. Combine filters to narrow down.

Input parameters:

- `airline_iata` (string): Airline IATA code
- `arr_iata` (string): Arrival airport IATA
- `dep_iata` (string): Departure airport IATA (e.g. "JFK")
- `flight_iata` (string): IATA flight number (e.g. "AA100")
- `flight_icao` (string): ICAO flight number
- `flight_status` (string): scheduled | active | landed | cancelled | incident | diverted
- `limit` (number): 1-100 (default 25)
- `offset` (number): 0-based offset

### `airports` (~101 tokens)

Input parameters:

- `country_iso2` (string): ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country
- `iata_code` (string): 3-letter IATA code
- `icao_code` (string): 4-letter ICAO code
- `limit` (number)
- `offset` (number)
- `search` (string): Free-text — name / city

### `airlines` (~94 tokens)

Search the Aviationstack airline directory by name, IATA 2-letter code, or ICAO 3-letter code; returns airline name, codes, country, hub airport, and status.

Input parameters:

- `iata_code` (string): 2-letter IATA
- `icao_code` (string): 3-letter ICAO
- `limit` (number)
- `offset` (number)

Input parameters:

- `country_iso2` (string)
- `iata_code` (string): City IATA code (e.g. "NYC" for all NYC airports)
- `limit` (number)
- `search` (string)

### `countries` (~40 tokens)

Country reference with capital city, currency, etc.

Input parameters:

- `country_iso2` (string)
- `limit` (number)
- `search` (string)

### `routes` (~88 tokens)

Query scheduled flight routes from Aviationstack by departure IATA (dep_iata), arrival IATA (arr_iata), airline IATA code, or flight number; returns scheduled service pairings.

Input parameters:

- `airline_iata` (string)
- `arr_iata` (string)
- `dep_iata` (string)
- `flight_number` (string)
- `limit` (number)

### `aviationstack_future_flights` (~289 tokens)

Scheduled future flights at one airport, from Aviationstack's /flightsFuture endpoint — what flies a route on a day next week. Requires an IATA airport code, a direction (departure or arrival), and a date; returns each flight's number, airline, aircraft model, and scheduled terminal/gate/time. Aviationstack's booking-view window for this endpoint currently covers only the next 7 days (apilayer notice, 2026-10-06): date must be between tomorrow and 7 days from today — a date outside that window is refused before the call is made, not after a wasted round trip.

Input parameters:

- `airline_iata` (string): Filter by airline IATA code
- `airline_icao` (string): Filter by airline ICAO code
- `date` (string, required): Future date, format YYYY-MM-DD, must fall within tomorrow through 7 days from today (UTC) — Aviationstack's current flightsFuture window.
- `flight_number` (string): Filter by flight number
- `iataCode` (string, required): 3-letter IATA airport code whose schedule to look up (e.g. "JFK")
- `limit` (number): 1-100 (default 100)
- `offset` (number): 0-based offset
- `type` (string, required): Whether to return flights scheduled to depart or arrive at iataCode

Output parameters:

- `data` (array)
- `data_as_of` (string): ISO timestamp when this response was fetched live from Aviationstack
- `pagination` (object)

## Common questions

### What is the Aviationstack MCP server?

Aviationstack is an MCP server listed in the public MCP registry as io.github.pipeworx-io/aviationstack. Aviationstack MCP, global flight + airport + airline data. This page covers its npm package (@pipeworx/mcp-aviationstack).

### Is the Aviationstack MCP server safe to use?

Aviationstack scores 81 out of 100 on VerifyMCP. We found no known CVEs affecting it as of 5 November 2026. It declares no install or post-install scripts. Its build provenance is signed and verified. That is a record of what we were able to check automatically, not an endorsement. The category breakdown on this page shows every signal behind the number, including the ones we could not confirm.

### What tools does the Aviationstack MCP server expose?

Aviationstack exposes 7 tools: flights, airports, airlines, cities, countries, and 2 more. Their descriptions and schemas cost roughly 853 tokens of context every time the server is loaded.

### Is the Aviationstack MCP server still maintained?

Aviationstack is still listed as active in the MCP registry. We last reached this channel on 5 November 2026. Those dates come from our own scans of the registry and the channel itself, not from anything the publisher announced.

### What licence is the Aviationstack MCP server under?

Aviationstack declares the MIT licence, which is OSI-approved. That covers the source only, and says nothing about the cost of any service it calls.

### What did VerifyMCP test on the Aviationstack MCP server?

VerifyMCP ran 16 checks on Aviationstack, covering Malware scan, Known CVEs, Install scripts, Dependency health and 12 more. Endpoint Security and Transport & Reachability do not apply to an npm package, so they were not tested. The score does not measure everything, and the scoring documentation lists what it leaves out.
