## Trust breakdown

How this component scores in each security and reliability category. Every signal is checked automatically against the live server, and we only credit what we can confirm. Scores are 0–100 per category. Scoring method: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring (what has changed: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring/changelog)

Scored 2026-11-05.

- **Endpoint Security**: 57/100
  - The endpoint's TLS certificate is valid, in date, and uses a strong key.
  - Authorisation check failed: no authorisation is required to call this server, and it exposes a tool marked destructive (respond_to_decision).
  - HTTPS is enforced; there's no plaintext access path.
  - HSTS check failed: the Strict-Transport-Security header is absent.
  - DNSSEC check failed: this domain isn't protected by DNSSEC.
- **Transport & Reachability**: 100/100
  - Verified streamable-http transport via a live MCP handshake.
- **Schema Quality & AI Usability**: 65/100
  - AI-judged instruction clarity (excellent).
  - Context-footprint check failed: tool/resource definitions use about 1227 tokens (~204/item across 6 items; 6 tools + 0 resources), over budget; trim descriptions and params.
  - Usage-examples check failed: none of the tools include examples.
- **Stability & Change Management**: 20/100
  - Stability observed for 6 of 30 days with no destabilising changes; credit accrues until the full window elapses.
- **Tool Coverage**: 98/100
  - 100% of tools have a non-trivial description (not blank, and not just the tool's name).
  - 95% of tool parameters carry a description.
- **Tool Safety**: 100/100
  - No prompt-injection markers were found in the server instructions, tool names or descriptions we captured.
  - All 1 tool(s) whose name or description implies an irreversible operation declare an MCP destructiveHint annotation.
  - An AI judge read all 7 captured unit(s) of tool text and found none that tries to manipulate the model reading it.
- **Capabilities**: 100/100
  - Implements a supported MCP spec version (2025-11-25); the latest is 2026-07-28.

The mcpServers block is a cross-client convention. Remote transports vary, so check your client's docs.

## Changelog

Every change recorded for this component, newest first. Days that predate change tracking, or that we cannot explain, say so: "we were watching and nothing happened" and "we were not watching" are different claims.

### 2026-11-04 (score 65, +1)

No change was recorded against any check on this day. Stability & Change Management went from 13 to 17. That category is still filling its 30-day observation window: 4 days of observed history at the previous scan, 5 at this one. The score rises as the window fills, whether or not the server changes.

### 2026-11-02 (score 64, +1)

No change was recorded against any check on this day. Stability & Change Management went from 7 to 10. That category is still filling its 30-day observation window: 2 days of observed history at the previous scan, 3 at this one. The score rises as the window fills, whether or not the server changes.

## MCP tools (6)

### `create_decision` (~326 tokens)

Create a group decision

Create a poll, check-in, availability board, or ranking and get a link to share with the group.

Easiest: pass `text` in plain language and SettleIt infers the type and options, e.g. "Dinner: pizza or thai" (poll), "Who's in for bowling Thursday?" (checkin), "Find a time for dinner next week" (availability), "Rank snacks: chips, popcorn, pretzels" (ranking).
For exact control, pass `question` plus `options` (2-5 for polls, 2-12 for rankings); with `question` alone you get a check-in. Availability must be created from `text`.
For availability, also pass the user's `timezone` (IANA name, e.g. "America/Los_Angeles") so the time slots are in their local time; without it slots are in UTC.

Returns the decision (share its `url`), plus an `admin_token` and `manage_url` to keep private.

Input parameters:

- `closes_in_minutes` (integer): Polls only: auto-close after this many minutes.
- `options` (array): Unique choices, used with question.
- `question` (string)
- `text` (string): Plain-language prompt. Max 200 characters except rankings.
- `timezone` (string): Availability: the user's IANA time zone, e.g. "America/Los_Angeles". Slots and words like "tomorrow" use it. Defaults to UTC.
- `type` (string): Force a type. Optional with text.

### `get_decision` (~106 tokens)

Get decision results

Read a decision and its current results: votes and leaders for polls, rankings with points, In/Maybe/Out names for check-ins, and per-slot counts plus best_slot_ids for availability. Also returns the option or slot ids that respond_to_decision needs.

Input parameters:

- `decision_id` (string, required): Decision id or SettleIt link, e.g. "AbC123xYz9" or "https://settleit.now/p/AbC123xYz9".

### `respond_to_decision` (~279 tokens)

Respond on behalf of a person

Record one person's answer, only when that person asked you to. Which fields you need depends on the decision's type (get_decision shows it in `respond.fields`):
\- poll: voter_id + option (exact label) or option_id
\- ranking: voter_id + order (every option label or id, best first)
\- checkin: name + status (in, maybe, out)
\- availability: name + slot_ids (from get_decision `slots`)
Answering again with the same voter_id or name (case-insensitive) replaces that person's earlier answer.

Input parameters:

- `decision_id` (string, required): Decision id or SettleIt link, e.g. "AbC123xYz9" or "https://settleit.now/p/AbC123xYz9".
- `name` (string): checkin, availability: the person's name.
- `option` (string): poll: exact option label.
- `option_id` (integer): poll: option id (alternative to option).
- `order` (array): ranking: every option label or id, best first.
- `slot_ids` (array): availability: every slot the person can make.
- `status` (string): checkin
- `voter_id` (string): poll, ranking: stable id for the person, e.g. their name.

### `close_decision` (~82 tokens)

Close a decision

Stop accepting responses. Results stay visible. Requires the admin_token.

Input parameters:

- `admin_token` (string, required): The admin_token returned by create_decision.
- `decision_id` (string, required): Decision id or SettleIt link, e.g. "AbC123xYz9" or "https://settleit.now/p/AbC123xYz9".

### `reopen_decision` (~90 tokens)

Reopen a decision

Accept responses again after closing (clears an automatic close time that has passed). Requires the admin_token.

Input parameters:

- `admin_token` (string, required): The admin_token returned by create_decision.
- `decision_id` (string, required): Decision id or SettleIt link, e.g. "AbC123xYz9" or "https://settleit.now/p/AbC123xYz9".

### `delete_decision` (~102 tokens)

Delete a decision

Permanently delete a decision and all its responses. The share link stops working. This cannot be undone, so confirm with the user first. Requires the admin_token.

Input parameters:

- `admin_token` (string, required): The admin_token returned by create_decision.
- `decision_id` (string, required): Decision id or SettleIt link, e.g. "AbC123xYz9" or "https://settleit.now/p/AbC123xYz9".

## Common questions

### What is the SettleIt MCP server?

SettleIt is an MCP server listed in the public MCP registry as now.settleit/settleit. Group decisions in one link: polls, who's-in check-ins, find-a-time, and rankings. No sign-up. This page covers its hosted endpoint (https://settleit.now/mcp).

### Is the SettleIt MCP server safe to use?

SettleIt scores 65 out of 100 on VerifyMCP. That is a record of what we were able to check automatically, not an endorsement. The category breakdown on this page shows every signal behind the number, including the ones we could not confirm.

### What tools does the SettleIt MCP server expose?

SettleIt exposes 6 tools: create_decision, get_decision, respond_to_decision, close_decision, reopen_decision, delete_decision. Their descriptions and schemas cost roughly 985 tokens of context every time the server is loaded.

### Does the SettleIt MCP server require authentication?

No. We connected to SettleIt without credentials and it answered, so anything it exposes is reachable by anyone who knows the address.

### Is the SettleIt MCP server still maintained?

SettleIt is still listed as active in the MCP registry. We last reached this channel on 5 November 2026. Those dates come from our own scans of the registry and the channel itself, not from anything the publisher announced.
