## Trust breakdown

How this component scores in each security and reliability category. Every signal is checked automatically against the live server, and we only credit what we can confirm. Scores are 0–100 per category. Scoring method: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring (what has changed: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring/changelog)

Scored 2026-11-05.

- **Endpoint Security**: 63/100
  - The endpoint's TLS certificate is valid, in date, and uses a strong key.
  - No authorisation is required to call this server. Every tool declares its destructiveHint and none is destructive, so open access doesn't expose one.
  - HTTPS enforcement could not be verified: the plaintext port answered with HTTP 406, which proves neither a plaintext path nor enforcement.
  - HSTS check failed: the Strict-Transport-Security header is absent.
  - DNSSEC check failed: this domain isn't protected by DNSSEC.
- **Transport & Reachability**: 100/100
  - Verified streamable-http transport via a live MCP handshake.
- **Schema Quality & AI Usability**: 66/100
  - AI-judged instruction clarity (excellent).
  - Context-footprint check failed: tool/resource definitions use about 703 tokens (~234/item across 3 items; 3 tools + 0 resources), over budget; trim descriptions and params.
  - Usage-examples check failed: none of the tools include examples.
- **Stability & Change Management**: 33/100
  - Stability observed for 10 of 30 days with no destabilising changes; credit accrues until the full window elapses.
- **Tool Coverage**: 100/100
  - 100% of tools have a non-trivial description (not blank, and not just the tool's name).
  - 100% of tool parameters carry a description.
  - Structured output schemas are declared (100% of tools); any adoption earns full credit.
- **Tool Safety**: 100/100
  - No prompt-injection markers were found in the server instructions, tool names or descriptions we captured.
  - We read all 3 captured tool definition(s), and no name or description among them implies an irreversible operation.
  - An AI judge read all 4 captured unit(s) of tool text and found none that tries to manipulate the model reading it.
- **Capabilities**: 100/100
  - Implements a current MCP spec version (2026-07-28).

## Install

### How do I install the GrooveSheet MCP server?

GrooveSheet is a hosted endpoint at https://api.groovesheet.net/mcp/public, so there is nothing to install locally. Ready-made configuration for Claude, Cursor, VS Code, Codex and 5 more is on this page, copied from each client's own documentation.

The mcpServers block is a cross-client convention. Remote transports vary, so check your client's docs.

## Changelog

Every change recorded for this component, newest first. Days that predate change tracking, or that we cannot explain, say so: "we were watching and nothing happened" and "we were not watching" are different claims.

## MCP tools (3)

### `search_songs` (~215 tokens)

Search GrooveSheet songs

Search GrooveSheet's public library of AI-transcribed songs by title or artist.

Returns up to 10 songs per page with id, title, artist, the separated
instruments, whether the song has sheet music / MIDI / stems, and the song
page URL. Track-level flags only: call get_song for which specific parts are
scored, since a song can have sheet music for one part and only MIDI for another.

Input parameters:

- `format`: Only songs offering this format. 'sheet' = readable sheet music (MusicXML/PDF), 'midi' = MIDI transcription, 'stems' = isolated audio. With an instrument, 'sheet' and 'midi' are checked for that spec…
- `instrument`: Only songs with this part: drums, piano, bass, guitar, vocals or other.
- `page` (integer): 1-based results page (10 songs per page).
- `query` (string, required): Song title and/or artist, e.g. 'Easy On Me Adele'.

### `get_song` (~116 tokens)

Get GrooveSheet song details

Details for one GrooveSheet song: every part and what notation it has.

Each part is `sheet_music` (readable score, PDF, Guitar Pro), `midi_only`
(MIDI transcription, no score) or `audio_only` (isolated stem). Includes the
song page URL and, for each scored part, its sheet music page.

Input parameters:

- `track_id` (string, required): Track id (UUID) or slug from search_songs, e.g. 'easy-on-me-adele-0fff6be3'.

### `get_download_links` (~133 tokens)

Get GrooveSheet download links

Links for one part of a GrooveSheet library song, to hand to the user.

Always returns the song page. For a part with sheet music it adds the sheet
music page, where the score can be read online. Every file download (PDF,
Guitar Pro, stem audio, MIDI, MusicXML) needs a free GrooveSheet account on
the song page; this tool never returns raw file URLs.

Input parameters:

- `instrument` (string, required): Part to get: drums, piano, bass, guitar, vocals or other.
- `track_id` (string, required): Track id (UUID) or slug from search_songs.

## Common questions

### What is the GrooveSheet MCP server?

GrooveSheet is an MCP server listed in the public MCP registry as net.groovesheet/mcp. Find AI-transcribed sheet music, MIDI and stems for songs. /mcp/public needs no sign-in. This page covers its hosted endpoint (https://api.groovesheet.net/mcp/public).

### Is the GrooveSheet MCP server safe to use?

GrooveSheet scores 70 out of 100 on VerifyMCP. That is a record of what we were able to check automatically, not an endorsement. The category breakdown on this page shows every signal behind the number, including the ones we could not confirm.

### What tools does the GrooveSheet MCP server expose?

GrooveSheet exposes 3 tools: search_songs, get_song, get_download_links. Their descriptions and schemas cost roughly 464 tokens of context every time the server is loaded.

### Does the GrooveSheet MCP server require authentication?

No. We connected to GrooveSheet without credentials and it answered, so anything it exposes is reachable by anyone who knows the address.

### Is the GrooveSheet MCP server still maintained?

GrooveSheet is still listed as active in the MCP registry. We last reached this channel on 5 November 2026. Those dates come from our own scans of the registry and the channel itself, not from anything the publisher announced.
