## MCP tools (23)

### `get_project_info` (~80 tokens)

Get project info

Summarizes an Audionaut project: tempo, tracks, clips with positions/durations and their audio files. Set raw=true for the full persistence JSON instead of the summary.

Input parameters:

- `project` (string, required): Path to the .audium project package (absolute paths recommended)
- `raw` (boolean): Dump the full persistence JSON instead of the summary

### `create_project` (~65 tokens)

Create project

Creates a new empty Audionaut project (.audium package) with one track. Fails if the path already exists.

Input parameters:

- `channels` (integer): Channels on the initial track (default 2)
- `project` (string, required): Target path for the new .audium package

### `import_audio` (~157 tokens)

Import audio

Imports one or more audio files into the project at the given position and saves it. Note: importing creates a new track holding the files.

Input parameters:

- `files` (array, required): Audio file paths to import
- `position_seconds` (number): Timeline position for the files (default 0)
- `project` (string, required): Path to the .audium project package (absolute paths recommended)
- `task` (string): Name of the task this edit is part of, e.g. "remove speech pauses". In the open app, all edits with the same task name become one undo step: keep the name for every call of the task and change it whe…

### `export_audio` (~413 tokens)

Export audio

Renders the project offline to an audio file (no audio device needed). The output's extension picks the format: .wav (8/16/24/32 bit), .flac (lossless and compressed, 16/24 bit, at most 8 channels per file), .aiff (8/16/24 bit), .ogg (Ogg Vorbis, lossy, at most 8 channels) or .mp3 (lossy, mono or stereo, at most 48 kHz). Lossy formats take bitrate_kbps instead of bit_depth. Pass region to bounce a single region instead - always dry, without any clip's gains or fades. Reports progress in 5% steps when the call carries a progressToken.

Input parameters:

- `bit_depth` (integer): Bit depth (default 24; not for .ogg/.mp3)
- `bitrate_kbps` (integer): Bit rate for .ogg (64, 80, 96, 112, 128, 160, 192, 224, 256, 320, 500) or .mp3 (96, 128, 160, 192, 256, 320); default 192
- `channels` (integer): Output channel count (default 2)
- `length_seconds` (number): Export length (default: whole project)
- `multi_mono` (boolean): Write one mono file per channel instead
- `output` (string, required): Output path ending in .wav, .flac, .aiff, .ogg or .mp3 - the format follows the extension
- `project` (string, required): Path to the .audium project package (absolute paths recommended)
- `region` (string): Bounce this region instead of the whole project
- `sample_rate` (integer): Sample rate in Hz (default 44100)
- `start_seconds` (number): Export start position
- `track` (integer): Track id, to disambiguate same-named regions

### `analyze` (~113 tokens)

Analyze audio

Runs audio analysis (segment boundaries, beats with BPM, onsets) on the project's audio files - or one standalone audio file - and caches the results next to the project for auto_edit/assemble to use. Reports progress as each file and type finishes when the call carries a progressToken.

Input parameters:

- `target` (string, required): A .audium project package or a single audio file
- `types` (string): Comma-separated analysis types from segments, beats, onsets (default: segments, beats, what auto_edit needs)

### `auto_edit` (~214 tokens)

- `track` (integer): Track id (default 0; imported audio lands on a new track)

### `assemble` (~198 tokens)

Assemble arrangement

Builds an arrangement of the given duration from the project's regions, sequentially or at random (requires regions - e.g. from auto_edit).

Input parameters:

- `crossfades` (boolean): Apply crossfades at joints (default true)
- `duration_seconds` (number): Target duration (default 60)
- `mode` (string): Selection mode (default sequential)
- `project` (string, required): Path to the .audium project package (absolute paths recommended)
- `seed` (integer): Random seed for reproducible random mode
- `task` (string): Name of the task this edit is part of, e.g. "remove speech pauses". In the open app, all edits with the same task name become one undo step: keep the name for every call of the task and change it whe…
- `track` (integer): Track id (default 0)

### `split` (~185 tokens)

Split clips

Splits the clip under the given timeline position into two on every track that has one there (the GUI's Split command). Fails with nothing_to_split when no clip spans the position.

### `set_region` (~252 tokens)

Edit region

Renames a region and/or retrims its source-relative range (clamped to the source audio). Clips have no length of their own, so a retrim affects every clip using the region.

Input parameters:

- `unit` (string): Unit for positions (default bars; bars/beats are 1-based, seconds/clocks absolute)

### `remove_clip` (~217 tokens)

Remove clips

Removes the clip at a timeline position (one clip; ambiguity across tracks needs track), or every placement of a named region. delete_region also drops the region itself unless other clips use it.

Input parameters:

### `move_clip` (~264 tokens)

Move clip

Moves one clip to a new timeline position and/or onto another track. Address it by position (at) or region name; the address must match exactly one clip. to_track takes a track id, or "new" to create a track for it; without to the clip keeps its position. Give at least one of to and to_track.

Input parameters:

- `at` (number): Current position of the clip (exclusive with region)
- `project` (string, required): Path to the .audium project package (absolute paths recommended)
- `region` (string): Region name of the clip
- `task` (string): Name of the task this edit is part of, e.g. "remove speech pauses". In the open app, all edits with the same task name become one undo step: keep the name for every call of the task and change it whe…

- `track` (integer): Track id
- `unit` (string): Unit for positions (default bars; bars/beats are 1-based, seconds/clocks absolute)

### `clip_speed` (~395 tokens)

Set clip speed

Sets a clip's playback speed (ratio 0.25-4, 2.0 = double speed, half as long). The mode picks how: repitch (default, varispeed - pitch and length change together) or stretch (pitch-preserving time-stretch). Mode can also be changed on its own. lockTempo ties the clip to the project tempo (speed = project tempo / clip tempo, following tempo changes); the clip tempo is detected by beat tracking or given with `tempo`, which implies the lock.

Input parameters:

- `at` (string): Timeline position of the clip (in `unit`)
- `length` (string): Fit the clip to this timeline duration (in `unit`)
- `lockTempo` (boolean): Lock the clip to the project tempo (true) or release it (false)

- `tempo` (number): The clip's own tempo in BPM; sets it and locks the clip
- `track` (integer): Track id to narrow the match
- `unit` (string): Unit for positions (default bars; bars/beats are 1-based, seconds/clocks absolute)

### `separate_stems` (~268 tokens)

Separate stems

Splits a clip into Drums/Bass/Other/Vocals tracks with the Demucs (htdemucs) source separator, aligned with the source clip. Slow: minutes for a full song, CPU only; reports progress in 5% steps when the call carries a progressToken. Needs the model weights, which the Audionaut app downloads once (Settings > Separation); fails with model_missing until then, and with demucs_unavailable in builds without Demucs.

Input parameters:

- `clip` (integer): Playlist item id (default: the track's first clip)
- `mute_source` (boolean): Mute the source track's channels (default true)
- `project` (string, required): Path to the .audium project package (absolute paths recommended)
- `task` (string): Name of the task this edit is part of, e.g. "remove speech pauses". In the open app, all edits with the same task name become one undo step: keep the name for every call of the task and change it whe…
- `threads` (integer): Parallel segments (default: physical cores)
- `track` (integer): Track id (default 0; imported audio lands on a new track)

### `clip_fades` (~527 tokens)

Set clip fades

Sets the addressed clip's fade ramps and curve exponents (0.1-4, 0.5 = equal power). All four fade values are in `unit` (default bars) and 0 clears one. Each ramp has two edges measured inward from the clip edge: the fade-in runs from fade_in_start to fade_in after the clip start, the fade-out from fade_out to fade_out_end before the clip end, so a ramp lasts fade_in - fade_in_start (or fade_out - fade_out_end). A negative offset puts that edge outside the clip, playing source audio beyond it - e.g. fade_out 0.25 with fade_out_end -0.25 (seconds) is a 0.5 s ramp centred on the clip end, the outgoing half of a crossfade. Values are clamped against each other within the clip. The address must match exactly one clip.

Input parameters:

- `at` (number): Timeline position of the clip (exclusive with region)
- `fade_in` (number): Where the fade-in ramp reaches full level, measured from the clip start; the ramp length only when fade_in_start is 0
- `fade_in_curve` (number): Fade-in curve exponent (0.1-4, 0.5 = equal power)
- `fade_in_start` (number): Where the fade-in ramp begins, measured from the clip start; negative = before the clip start
- `fade_out` (number): Where the fade-out ramp begins, measured back from the clip end; the ramp length only when fade_out_end is 0
- `fade_out_curve` (number): Fade-out curve exponent (0.1-4, 0.5 = equal power)
- `fade_out_end` (number): Where the fade-out ramp reaches silence, measured back from the clip end; negative = past the clip end

### `remove_track` (~154 tokens)

Remove track

Removes a whole track from the project, including its channels, clips and regions. Track ids are positions in the track list, so the ids of the tracks below shift up by one. The audio files stay in the package.

Input parameters:

- `project` (string, required): Path to the .audium project package (absolute paths recommended)
- `task` (string): Name of the task this edit is part of, e.g. "remove speech pauses". In the open app, all edits with the same task name become one undo step: keep the name for every call of the task and change it whe…
- `track` (integer, required): Track id

### `remove_channel` (~162 tokens)

Remove channel

Removes one channel (0-based) from a track, like deleting a channel strip in the GUI. Channel mappings and per-channel clip gains shift down; the audio files stay in the package.

Input parameters:

- `channel` (integer, required): Channel index within the track (0-based)
- `project` (string, required): Path to the .audium project package (absolute paths recommended)
- `task` (string): Name of the task this edit is part of, e.g. "remove speech pauses". In the open app, all edits with the same task name become one undo step: keep the name for every call of the task and change it whe…
- `track` (integer, required): Track id

### `track_pan` (~234 tokens)

Pan a track

Sets the pan position of a track's channel strips, -1 (hard left) to 1 (hard right), 0 centred - the pan slider of the channel view. Every strip of the track by default, one with channel. A mono stem has one strip; a stereo import's two strips start at -1 and 1. Playback and export_audio both follow it; get_project_info shows the current pans per track.

Input parameters:

- `channel` (integer): One channel strip (0-based; default: all)
- `pan` (number, required): Pan position, -1 left .. 0 centre .. 1 right
- `project` (string, required): Path to the .audium project package (absolute paths recommended)
- `task` (string): Name of the task this edit is part of, e.g. "remove speech pauses". In the open app, all edits with the same task name become one undo step: keep the name for every call of the task and change it whe…
- `track` (integer, required): Track id

### `request_feature` (~206 tokens)

Request a feature

Sends a feature request to the Audionaut maintainer as a GitHub issue. Use it when a task needs something the other tools cannot do: a missing verb or option, a limit that got in the way, or a workflow that took a clumsy workaround. Say what the user was trying to achieve and why the current tools fall short - that context is what makes the request actionable. Tell the user you are sending it; include their name or e-mail only if they offered it. If nothing could be sent, the reply carries a prefilled issue link to hand to the user.

Input parameters:

- `context` (string): What you were trying to do, which tool fell short, and any workaround used
- `description` (string, required): What is missing, why it matters, and how it should behave
- `reporter` (string): The user's name or e-mail for follow-up, only if they offered it
- `title` (string, required): One-line summary of the requested feature

### `report_bug` (~255 tokens)

Report a bug

Reports a bug in Audionaut to the maintainer as a GitHub issue. Use it when a tool misbehaves: an error that should not happen, a wrong or inconsistent result, a crash, or a project left in a bad state. Quote the exact tool call and error text - the CLI's code and message - and say what you expected instead; that is what makes the report reproducible. Never include the audio itself, and keep file paths to what is needed. Tell the user you are sending it; include their name or e-mail only if they offered it. If nothing could be sent, the reply carries a prefilled issue link to hand to the user.

Input parameters:

- `context` (string): Project shape (tracks, clips, sample rate), platform, anything else relevant
- `description` (string, required): What happened, including the exact error text if there was one
- `expected` (string): What should have happened instead
- `reporter` (string): The user's name or e-mail for follow-up, only if they offered it
- `steps` (string): How to reproduce it: the tool calls in order, with their arguments
- `title` (string, required): One-line summary of the problem

## Common questions

### What is the Audionaut MCP server?

Audionaut is an MCP server listed in the public MCP registry as io.github.kvoltmer/audionaut. Edit Audionaut multitrack projects: cut, fade, analyse, export. Requires the Audionaut app. This page covers its npm package (audionaut-mcp).

### Is the Audionaut MCP server safe to use?

Audionaut scores 80 out of 100 on VerifyMCP. We found no known CVEs affecting it as of 5 November 2026. It declares no install or post-install scripts. That is a record of what we were able to check automatically, not an endorsement. The category breakdown on this page shows every signal behind the number, including the ones we could not confirm.

### What tools does the Audionaut MCP server expose?

Audionaut exposes 23 tools: get_project_info, create_project, import_audio, export_audio, analyze, and 18 more. Their descriptions and schemas cost roughly 5,153 tokens of context every time the server is loaded.

### Is the Audionaut MCP server still maintained?

Audionaut is still listed as active in the MCP registry. We last reached this channel on 5 November 2026. Those dates come from our own scans of the registry and the channel itself, not from anything the publisher announced.

### What licence is the Audionaut MCP server under?

Audionaut declares the GPL-3.0-or-later licence, which is OSI-approved. That covers the source only, and says nothing about the cost of any service it calls.

### What did VerifyMCP test on the Audionaut MCP server?

VerifyMCP ran 16 checks on Audionaut, covering Malware scan, Known CVEs, Install scripts, Dependency health and 12 more. Endpoint Security and Transport & Reachability do not apply to an npm package, so they were not tested. The score does not measure everything, and the scoring documentation lists what it leaves out.
