## Trust breakdown

How this component scores in each security and reliability category. Every signal is checked automatically against the live server, and we only credit what we can confirm. Scores are 0–100 per category. Scoring method: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring (what has changed: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring/changelog)

Scored 2026-10-25.

- **Endpoint Security**: 78/100
  - The endpoint's TLS certificate is valid, in date, and uses a strong key.
  - Authorisation is enforced on tool calls, advertised via RFC 9728 protected-resource metadata. Discovery is public, which costs nothing: no tool can be invoked without a token.
  - HTTPS enforcement could not be verified: the plaintext port answered with HTTP 405, which proves neither a plaintext path nor enforcement.
  - HSTS check failed: the Strict-Transport-Security header is absent.
  - DNSSEC check failed: this domain isn't protected by DNSSEC.
  - The authorisation server offers only Dynamic Client Registration (RFC 7591), which MCP 2026-07-28 deprecated in favour of Client ID Metadata Documents.
- **Transport & Reachability**: 100/100
  - Verified streamable-http transport via a live MCP handshake.
- **Schema Quality & AI Usability**: 80/100
  - 100% of prompts and resources have a non-trivial description (not blank, and not just the item's name).
  - AI-judged instruction clarity (good).
  - Tool/resource definitions use about 806 tokens (~89/item across 9 items; 9 tools + 0 resources), lean.
  - Usage-examples check failed: none of the tools include examples.
- **Stability & Change Management**: 7/100
  - Stability observed for 2 of 30 days with no destabilising changes; credit accrues until the full window elapses.
- **Tool Coverage**: 87/100
  - 100% of tools have a non-trivial description (not blank, and not just the tool's name).
  - 60% of tool parameters carry a description.
- **Tool Safety**: 100/100
  - No prompt-injection markers were found in the server instructions, tool names or descriptions we captured.
  - We read all 9 captured tool definition(s), and no name or description among them implies an irreversible operation.
  - An AI judge read all 10 captured unit(s) of tool text and found none that tries to manipulate the model reading it.
- **Capabilities**: 60/100
  - Spec-recency check failed: implements MCP spec 2025-06-18; the latest is 2026-07-28.

## Install

### How do I install the Moodmark MCP server?

Moodmark is a hosted endpoint at https://app.moodmark.design/mcp, so there is nothing to install locally. Ready-made configuration for Claude, Cursor, VS Code, Codex and 5 more is on this page, copied from each client's own documentation.

The mcpServers block is a cross-client convention. Remote transports vary, so check your client's docs.

## Changelog

Every change recorded for this component, newest first. Days that predate change tracking, or that we cannot explain, say so: "we were watching and nothing happened" and "we were not watching" are different claims.

### 2026-10-25 (score 72, +1)

No change was recorded against any check on this day. Stability & Change Management went from 3 to 7. That category is still filling its 30-day observation window: 1 days of observed history at the previous scan, 2 at this one. The score rises as the window fills, whether or not the server changes.

### 2026-10-24 (score 71, 0)

- [functional improvement] Stability: unverified → 0.03

## MCP tools (9)

### `save_websites` (~159 tokens)

Save websites to Moodmark

Save websites to the user's Moodmark library, optionally into a collection (created if missing). Moodmark captures a screenshot, title, favicon, fonts and tech stack for each; the colour palette is extracted when the user opens the library. Up to 50 URLs per call. Already-saved sites are not duplicated.

Input parameters:

- `collection` (string): Collection name or id, e.g. "Portfolio 27".
- `create_collection` (boolean): Create the collection if it doesn't exist (default true).
- `items` (array): Alternative to urls, with a title, note or tags per site.
- `tags` (array): Existing tag names to apply to every site (see list_tags).
- `urls` (array): Website addresses to save.

### `search_library` (~84 tokens)

Search the Moodmark library

Find bookmarks the user already saved — by text (title, URL, note, tags, fonts, tech), colour family, tags or collection. Returns newest first.

Input parameters:

- `collection` (string)
- `color` (string)
- `limit` (number): 1–100, default 25.
- `query` (string)
- `tags` (array)

### `list_collections` (~18 tokens)

List collections

The user's collections with bookmark counts and links.

### `create_collection` (~37 tokens)

Create a collection

Create an empty collection (returns the existing one if the name is taken).

Input parameters:

- `description` (string)
- `name` (string, required)

### `list_tags` (~29 tokens)

List tags

The user's tags by category (industry, style, layout…). Only these names can be applied when saving.

### `get_design_brief` (~92 tokens)

Get a design.md brief

Turn one saved reference into design.md: palette roles, typography, layout, components, a paste-ready prompt for AI builders (v0, Cursor, Lovable, Bolt) and CSS/Tailwind tokens. Cached on the bookmark; Premium only.

Input parameters:

- `bookmark` (string, required): Bookmark id (from search_library) or its URL.
- `refresh` (boolean): Regenerate even if a brief is cached.

### `update_bookmarks` (~87 tokens)

Tag, annotate or file saved bookmarks

Additive edits to saved bookmarks: add existing tags, append a note, add to a collection (created if missing). Never removes anything the user set.

Input parameters:

- `add_tags` (array): Existing tag names (see list_tags).
- `add_to_collection` (string)
- `append_note` (string)
- `bookmarks` (array, required): Bookmark ids or URLs (max 100).

### `suggest_tags` (~60 tokens)

Suggest tags for saved sites

AI tag suggestions for up to 10 saved bookmarks, chosen from the user's own tags, each with a short reason. Suggestions only; apply the ones that fit with update_bookmarks.

Input parameters:

- `bookmarks` (array, required): Bookmark ids or URLs (max 10).

### `share_collection` (~56 tokens)

Share a collection publicly

Turn on the public, read-only link for a collection so it can be sent to a client (they can browse and vote). Only call this when the user explicitly asks to share.

Input parameters:

- `collection` (string, required): Collection name or id.

## Common questions

### What is the Moodmark MCP server?

Moodmark is an MCP server listed in the public MCP registry as io.github.janvodvarka/moodmark. Let your AI agent build moodboards of real websites: save, search, tag and share design references. This page covers its hosted endpoint (https://app.moodmark.design/mcp).

### Is the Moodmark MCP server safe to use?

Moodmark scores 72 out of 100 on VerifyMCP. That is a record of what we were able to check automatically, not an endorsement. The category breakdown on this page shows every signal behind the number, including the ones we could not confirm.

### What tools does the Moodmark MCP server expose?

Moodmark exposes 9 tools: save_websites, search_library, list_collections, create_collection, list_tags, and 4 more. Their descriptions and schemas cost roughly 622 tokens of context every time the server is loaded.

### Does the Moodmark MCP server require authentication?

Yes. Moodmark asked us for credentials when we connected, so you will need to authorise it in your MCP client before it can do anything.

### Is the Moodmark MCP server still maintained?

Moodmark is still listed as active in the MCP registry. We last reached this channel on 25 October 2026. Those dates come from our own scans of the registry and the channel itself, not from anything the publisher announced.
