## Trust breakdown

How this component scores in each security and reliability category. Every signal is checked automatically from public evidence about the published package, including repeated runs of it in an isolated sandbox, and we only credit what we can confirm. Scores are 0–100 per category. Scoring method: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring (what has changed: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring/changelog)

Scored 2026-11-05.

- **Supply Chain Security**: 0/100
  - No malware scan is available for this kind of package: the supply-chain vendors we use do not cover it. This is a permanent gap in our coverage, not a finding about the package.
  - Known CVEs could not be checked: this artifact ships no SBOM or dependency manifest, so there is no dependency list to read.
  - Install-script risk not yet assessed.
  - Dependency health could not be checked: this artifact ships no SBOM or dependency manifest, so there is no dependency list to read.
- **Provenance & Transparency**: 35/100
  - Source repository is publicly reachable at the declared URL.
  - Provenance check failed: no build-provenance attestation is published.
  - License check failed: no license is declared.
  - Actively maintained (last published 7 days ago).
  - Publishes a security disclosure policy (SECURITY.md).
- **Schema Quality & AI Usability**: 87/100
  - 100% of prompts and resources have a non-trivial description (not blank, and not just the item's name).
  - AI-judged instruction clarity (excellent).
  - Context-footprint check failed: tool/resource definitions use about 3022 tokens (~104/item across 29 items; 27 tools + 2 resources), over budget; trim descriptions and params.
  - Usage-examples check failed: none of the tools include examples.
- **Stability & Change Management**: 44/100
  - Stability check failed: the tool surface changed between v0.3.6 and v0.4.1: 10 tool removals, 2 breaking changes, 0 additions.
- **Tool Coverage**: 100/100
  - 100% of tools have a non-trivial description (not blank, and not just the tool's name).
  - 100% of tool parameters carry a description.
  - Structured output schemas are declared (100% of tools); any adoption earns full credit.
- **Tool Safety**: 100/100
  - No prompt-injection markers were found in the server instructions, tool names or descriptions we captured.
  - We read all 27 captured tool definition(s), and no name or description among them implies an irreversible operation.
  - An AI judge read all 29 captured unit(s) of tool text and found none that tries to manipulate the model reading it.
- **Capabilities**: 100/100
  - Implements a current MCP spec version (2026-07-28).

**Unverified: 1 category.** A category scored 0 because we could not verify it: a data source with nothing on this package, evidence we could not reach, or a check we could not run. We only credit what we can confirm.

## Install

### How do I install the Spinnaker MCP server?

Spinnaker runs locally as a container image, launched with docker run --rm -i -e GATE_URL -e GATE_TOKEN -e GATE_USER -e GATE_PASS -e GATE_COOKIE -e GATE_COOKIE_FILE -e GATE_CERT_FILE -e GATE_KEY_FILE -e GATE_INSECURE -e TOOLSETS drumsergio/spinnaker-mcp:v0.4.1. Ready-made configuration for Claude, Cursor, VS Code, Codex and 3 more is on this page, copied from each client's own documentation.

### Claude

```bash
claude mcp add geiserx-spinnaker-mcp -- docker run --rm -i -e GATE_URL -e GATE_TOKEN -e GATE_USER -e GATE_PASS -e GATE_COOKIE -e GATE_COOKIE_FILE -e GATE_CERT_FILE -e GATE_KEY_FILE -e GATE_INSECURE -e TOOLSETS drumsergio/spinnaker-mcp:v0.4.1
```

This image reads GATE_URL, GATE_TOKEN, GATE_USER, GATE_PASS, GATE_COOKIE, GATE_COOKIE_FILE, GATE_CERT_FILE, GATE_KEY_FILE, GATE_INSECURE and TOOLSETS. Set them in your client's env block for this server; docker run -e passes each one through to the container.

## MCP tools (27)

### `evaluate_expression` (~106 tokens)

Evaluate SpEL expression

Evaluate a Spring Expression Language (SpEL) expression against a pipeline execution context. Use this to inspect pipeline variables, stage outputs, or computed values during debugging. Dangerous patterns (reflection, class instantiation) are blocked for security. Returns the evaluated expression result as JSON.

Input parameters:

- `execution_id` (string, required): Pipeline execution ID to evaluate against
- `expression` (string, required): SpEL expression in ${...}, e.g. ${trigger.parameters.tag} or ${#stage('Deploy').status}

Output parameters:

- `count` (integer): Number of records in items.
- `items` (array): The records, when Gate answered with a list.

### `find_images` (~144 tokens)

Find images

Search for machine images (AMIs, GCE images, Docker images) available in Spinnaker for a given cloud provider. Use this to find images for a deployment or verify which image versions are available. Supports filtering by query string, region, and account. Returns JSON array of matching image objects.

Input parameters:

- `cloud_provider` (string, required): Cloud provider (e.g. aws, gce, kubernetes)

Output parameters:

- `count` (integer): Number of records in items.
- `items` (array): The records, when Gate answered with a list.

### `search_executions` (~299 tokens)

Search executions

Search pipeline executions of an application by pipeline name, trigger type, status and trigger time. Use this instead of list_executions when you need executions matching specific criteria, for example every failed webhook run since yesterday. Returns a JSON array of executions, newest first, size per page (default 10).

Input parameters:

- `application` (string, required): Application name as registered in Spinnaker

## Common questions

### What is the Spinnaker MCP server?

Spinnaker is an MCP server listed in the public MCP registry as io.github.GeiserX/spinnaker-mcp. MCP server exposing Spinnaker CD platform via Gate API for pipeline and deployment management. This page covers its container image (drumsergio/spinnaker-mcp).

### Is the Spinnaker MCP server safe to use?

Spinnaker scores 47 out of 100 on VerifyMCP. That is a record of what we were able to check automatically, not an endorsement. The category breakdown on this page shows every signal behind the number, including the ones we could not confirm.

### What tools does the Spinnaker MCP server expose?

Spinnaker exposes 27 tools: evaluate_expression, find_images, get_account, get_application, get_cluster, and 22 more. Their descriptions and schemas cost roughly 2,824 tokens of context every time the server is loaded.

### Is the Spinnaker MCP server still maintained?

Spinnaker is still listed as active in the MCP registry. We last reached this channel on 5 November 2026. Those dates come from our own scans of the registry and the channel itself, not from anything the publisher announced.

### What did VerifyMCP test on the Spinnaker MCP server?

VerifyMCP ran 12 checks on Spinnaker, covering Source repository, Provenance, License, Maintenance and 8 more. 4 items could not be completed, a gap on our side rather than a finding about Spinnaker: Malware scan, Known CVEs, Install scripts and Dependency health. One category scores 0 for that reason, because we only credit what we can confirm. Endpoint Security and Transport & Reachability do not apply to a container image, so they were not tested. The score does not measure everything, and the scoring documentation lists what it leaves out.
