## Trust breakdown

How this component scores in each security and reliability category. Every signal is checked automatically from public evidence about the published package, including repeated runs of it in an isolated sandbox, and we only credit what we can confirm. Scores are 0–100 per category. Scoring method: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring (what has changed: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring/changelog)

Scored 2026-10-17.

- **Supply Chain Security**: 100/100
  - No malware found by supply-chain analysis.
  - No known CVEs affecting this package version or its production dependencies.
  - No install/post-install scripts declared.
  - No production dependencies, so there is no dependency health to assess.
- **Provenance & Transparency**: 32/100
  - Source repository is publicly reachable at the declared URL.
  - Provenance check failed: no build-provenance attestation is published.
  - License check failed: the license (UNLICENSED) isn't a recognized OSI-approved license.
  - Actively maintained (last published 9 days ago).
  - Disclosure check failed: no security disclosure policy was found in the source repository.
- **Schema Quality & AI Usability**: 65/100
  - AI-judged instruction clarity (good).
  - Tool/resource definitions use about 828 tokens (~82/item across 10 items; 10 tools + 0 resources), lean.
  - Usage-examples check failed: none of the tools include examples.
- **Stability & Change Management**: 0/100
  - Stability not yet verified: not enough scan history yet (needs a 30-day window).
- **Tool Coverage**: 87/100
  - 100% of tools have a non-trivial description (not blank, and not just the tool's name).
  - 60% of tool parameters carry a description.
- **Tool Safety**: 100/100
  - No prompt-injection markers were found in the server instructions, tool names or descriptions we captured.
  - We read all 10 captured tool definition(s), and no name or description among them implies an irreversible operation.
  - An AI judge read all 11 captured unit(s) of tool text and found none that tries to manipulate the model reading it.
- **Capabilities**: 100/100
  - Implements a supported MCP spec version (2025-11-25); the latest is 2026-07-28.

**Unverified: 1 category.** A category scored 0 because we could not verify it: a data source with nothing on this package, evidence we could not reach, or a check we could not run. We only credit what we can confirm.

## MCP tools (10)

### `panoon_status` (~37 tokens)

Check the PanoOn local service: reachability, version, area-metadata capabilities and supported strategies. Call this first when anything fails.

### `panoon_area_scan` (~175 tokens)

Start an Area PanoID scan: collect every Street View panorama inside a polygon and return their PanoIDs. The scan runs on the local service; poll with panoon_area_status (or pass waitSeconds) and fetch results with panoon_area_result.

Input parameters:

- `crawlingDistanceMeters` (number): Probe spacing in meters (default 463; smaller = denser probes).
- `outputDir` (string): Optional directory for saved area output files.
- `polygon` (array, required): Polygon outline, at least 3 { lat, lng } points.
- `strategy` (string): Area strategy. Default fast-geophoto (coverage tiles). Others: dense-rpc-grid, official-metadata, hybrid, custom.
- `waitSeconds` (integer): 0-600. Wait up to this long for completion before returning.

### `panoon_area_status` (~63 tokens)

Fetch the progress of an Area PanoID scan started with panoon_area_scan. Optional waitSeconds blocks until it finishes.

Input parameters:

- `jobId` (string, required)
- `waitSeconds` (integer): 0-600. Wait up to this long for completion.

### `panoon_area_result` (~92 tokens)

Fetch the final result of an Area PanoID scan: counts plus a preview of unique PanoIDs. Pass savePath to write the full JSON result to disk.

Input parameters:

- `jobId` (string, required)
- `maxIds` (integer): How many PanoIDs to include in the preview (default 2000).
- `savePath` (string): Optional file path to save the complete result JSON.

### `panoon_area_cancel` (~27 tokens)

Cancel a running Area PanoID scan.

Input parameters:

- `jobId` (string, required)

### `panoon_download` (~185 tokens)

Queue a street-view image download job for a list of PanoIDs. Images are written as JPEG under outputDir by the controller/workers. Returns a jobId; monitor with panoon_job_status. Confirm outputDir and scope with the user before large jobs.

Input parameters:

- `jpegQuality` (integer): JPEG quality 1-100 (default 95).
- `namingTemplate` (string): Filename template. Default "{lat},{lon}_{year}-{month}_{panoid}_d{heading}_z{zoom}.jpg".
- `outputDir` (string, required): Absolute output directory for the JPEG files.
- `panoids` (array, required): PanoIDs to download (max 250000 per job).
- `serverUrl` (string): Distributed controller URL. Default: the local service.
- `zoom` (integer): Zoom level (default 3 → 2048x1024).

### `panoon_job_status` (~71 tokens)

Fetch progress of a download job started with panoon_download. Optional waitSeconds blocks until it reaches a terminal state.

Input parameters:

- `jobId` (string, required)
- `serverUrl` (string)
- `waitSeconds` (integer): 0-600. Wait up to this long for a terminal state.

### `panoon_jobs` (~42 tokens)

List recent download jobs (newest first) from the local service or a distributed controller.

Input parameters:

- `limit` (integer)
- `serverUrl` (string)

### `panoon_workers` (~32 tokens)

Show distributed worker nodes: online counts, running tasks and per-node throughput.

Input parameters:

- `serverUrl` (string)

### `panoon_cancel_job` (~37 tokens)

Cancel a download job (local service or distributed controller).

Input parameters:

- `jobId` (string, required)
- `serverUrl` (string)

## Common questions

### What is the PanoOn Street View MCP server?

PanoOn Street View is an MCP server listed in the public MCP registry as io.github.fanrj3/panoon-mcp. Scan Street View areas into PanoIDs and download imagery through PanoOn. This page covers its npm package (panoon-mcp).

### Is the PanoOn Street View MCP server safe to use?

PanoOn Street View scores 65 out of 100 on VerifyMCP. We found no known CVEs affecting it as of 17 October 2026. It declares no install or post-install scripts. That is a record of what we were able to check automatically, not an endorsement. The category breakdown on this page shows every signal behind the number, including the ones we could not confirm.

### What tools does the PanoOn Street View MCP server expose?

PanoOn Street View exposes 10 tools: panoon_status, panoon_area_scan, panoon_area_status, panoon_area_result, panoon_area_cancel, and 5 more. Their descriptions and schemas cost roughly 761 tokens of context every time the server is loaded.

### Is the PanoOn Street View MCP server still maintained?

PanoOn Street View is still listed as active in the MCP registry. We last reached this channel on 17 October 2026. Those dates come from our own scans of the registry and the channel itself, not from anything the publisher announced.

### What licence is the PanoOn Street View MCP server under?

PanoOn Street View declares the UNLICENSED licence, which is not on the OSI-approved list. Read the terms before using it at work, and note this covers the source only, not the cost of any service it calls.
