## Trust breakdown

How this component scores in each security and reliability category. Every signal is checked automatically from public evidence about the published package, including repeated runs of it in an isolated sandbox, and we only credit what we can confirm. Scores are 0–100 per category. Scoring method: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring (what has changed: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring/changelog)

Scored 2026-11-05.

- **Supply Chain Security**: 12/100
  - No malware scan is available for this kind of package: the supply-chain vendors we use do not cover it. This is a permanent gap in our coverage, not a finding about the package.
  - Known CVEs were checked across the 52 of 52 dependencies we could resolve, so this covers what we could see, not the whole tree.
  - Install-script risk not yet assessed.
  - 11 of 52 dependencies flagged as unhealthy.
- **Provenance & Transparency**: 32/100
  - Source repository is publicly reachable at the declared URL.
  - Provenance check failed: no build-provenance attestation is published.
  - License check failed: the license (PolyForm-Noncommercial-1.0.0) isn't a recognized OSI-approved license.
  - Actively maintained (last published 2 days ago).
  - Disclosure check failed: no security disclosure policy was found in the source repository.
- **Schema Quality & AI Usability**: 77/100
  - 100% of prompts and resources have a non-trivial description (not blank, and not just the item's name).
  - AI-judged instruction clarity (good).
  - Context-footprint check failed: tool/resource definitions use about 2233 tokens (~148/item across 15 items; 12 tools + 3 resources), over budget; trim descriptions and params.
  - Usage-examples check failed: none of the tools include examples.
- **Stability & Change Management**: 0/100
  - Stability not yet verified: not enough scan history yet (needs a 30-day window).
- **Tool Coverage**: 100/100
  - 100% of tools have a non-trivial description (not blank, and not just the tool's name).
  - 100% of tool parameters carry a description.
  - Structured output schemas are declared (83% of tools); any adoption earns full credit.
- **Tool Safety**: 100/100
  - No prompt-injection markers were found in the server instructions, tool names or descriptions we captured.
  - We read all 12 captured tool definition(s), and no name or description among them implies an irreversible operation.
  - An AI judge read all 14 captured unit(s) of tool text and found none that tries to manipulate the model reading it.
- **Capabilities**: 100/100
  - Implements a current MCP spec version (2026-07-28).

**Unverified: 1 category.** A category scored 0 because we could not verify it: a data source with nothing on this package, evidence we could not reach, or a check we could not run. We only credit what we can confirm.

## Install

### How do I install the stlToSolid MCP server?

stlToSolid ships as an MCPB bundle, a single file you download and open in an MCP host that supports MCPB bundles, such as Claude Desktop. The host reads the launch command from the bundle's own manifest, so there is no command to copy. Before opening it, check the file's SHA-256 matches the one the MCP registry declares for it, 4e9808c98cda710cda1b987942810ab8c58b7400b1ccdf911e80a1d773295f0d; the commands to do that are on this page. If it does not match, do not open it.

## MCP tools (12)

### `inspect_mesh` (~116 tokens)

Look at a mesh file before converting it: size, triangle count, whether it is closed, its bodies (largest first), a warning when the units look wrong, and a suggested method. Takes a second or two on most parts.

Input parameters:

- `path` (string, required): Absolute path of the mesh file
- `scale` (number): Extra factor after units. Units only enlarge, so a cm design exported as mm needs 0.1.
- `units` (string): What the file's numbers mean. STL and OBJ carry no units.

### `convert_mesh` (~508 tokens)

Convert a mesh to a STEP solid. Method 'auto' tries prismatic (sketches and extrudes), then face groups, then faceted, held to the acceptance limits. Method 'loft' slices along an axis and lofts the outlines into one smooth solid. Runs one job at a time and can take from seconds to over an hour: it answers after wait_s with a job_id if it is still going. Then call job_status.

Input parameters:

- `accept_hole_max` (number): Max deviation on bores, mm
- `accept_max` (number): Max single-point deviation, mm
- `accept_p95` (number): Max p95 surface deviation, mm
- `accept_vol_pct` (number): Max volume error, percent
- `bodies`: Body indices from inspect_mesh; default all
- `face_groups` (boolean): Try the face-group route between prismatic and faceted
- `force_prismatic` (boolean): Attempt a prismatic fit even for scan-like input
- `loft_ruled` (boolean): Loft: one face per section pair instead of smooth

- `out_dir`: Folder for the results. Default: one folder per part under the output folder.
- `path` (string, required): Absolute path of the mesh file
- `reduce_tol` (number): Faceted output: decimate curved regions within this, mm (0 = off)
- `scale` (number): Extra factor after units. Units only enlarge, so a cm design exported as mm needs 0.1.
- `slice_axis` (string): Loft: slicing axis
- `slice_from`: Partial loft: start plane, mm from the bounding-box centre
- `slice_join` (number): Loft: join loose section ends closer than this, mm
- `slice_mm` (number): Loft: section spacing, mm

- `slice_range_mm` (number): Partial loft: length from the start plane, mm (0 = whole body)
- `slice_trim` (number): Loft: cut slivers thinner than this, mm
- `tol` (number): Fit tolerance for lines, arcs and splines, mm

- `report` (object): Route, deviations, face counts and surface types
- `status` (string): queued, running, done, error or cancelled
- `summary` (string): One sentence on where it stands

### `job_status` (~69 tokens)

Where a conversion or build stands. Waits up to wait_s for it to finish, so call it again straight away while `finished` is false.

Input parameters:

- `wait_s` (number): Seconds to wait for it to finish

Output parameters:

- `elapsed_s`
- `error`

- `files` (object): Result files by kind, e.g. step, fusion_script
- `finished` (boolean): False means it is still going: call job_status again
- `job_id` (string)
- `log_tail` (array)
- `ok` (boolean): True only when it finished and wrote its result
- `report` (object): Route, deviations, face counts and surface types
- `status` (string): queued, running, done, error or cancelled

### `cancel_job` (~38 tokens)

Stop a running conversion or build. Its partial work is discarded; finished results stay.

Input parameters:

- `job_id` (string, required): The job_id to stop

### `suggest_loft_axis` (~156 tokens)

Which axis a whole-body loft would slice along, and the score of each axis (fewest one-slice runs wins). Under a few seconds.

Input parameters:

- `join` (number): Join loose section ends closer than this, mm (0 = never)
- `path` (string, required): Absolute path of the mesh file
- `scale` (number): Extra factor after units. Units only enlarge, so a cm design exported as mm needs 0.1.
- `slice_mm` (number): Section spacing, mm
- `trim` (number): Cut slivers thinner than this out of closed loops, mm (0 = off)
- `units` (string): What the file's numbers mean. STL and OBJ carry no units.

### `trace_section` (~266 tokens)

Slice a mesh at one plane and see it: a picture of the fitted outline with a millimetre grid, and how many lines, arcs, circles and splines it took. offset_mm is measured from the bounding-box centre along the axis. Red curves in the picture are open chains, where the mesh leaks.

Input parameters:

- `axis` (string): The axis the plane is square to
- `include_curves` (boolean): Also return every fitted curve as 3-D data. Can be long.
- `join` (number): Join loose section ends closer than this, mm (0 = never)
- `offset_mm` (number): Plane position, mm from the bounding-box centre
- `outline` (boolean): Closed outer outlines only: leave out open chains and holes
- `path` (string, required): Absolute path of the mesh file
- `scale` (number): Extra factor after units. Units only enlarge, so a cm design exported as mm needs 0.1.
- `tol` (number): Fit tolerance for lines, arcs and splines, mm
- `trim` (number): Cut slivers thinner than this out of closed loops, mm (0 = off)
- `units` (string): What the file's numbers mean. STL and OBJ carry no units.

### `plan_xray` (~166 tokens)

Where a stack of X-Ray section planes would go: their offsets and how many there are. Cheap: no tracing. from_mm and to_mm are measured from the bounding-box centre along the axis.

Input parameters:

- `axis` (string, required): The axis the planes are square to
- `from_mm` (number, required): Start plane, mm from the centre
- `path` (string, required): Absolute path of the mesh file
- `scale` (number): Extra factor after units. Units only enlarge, so a cm design exported as mm needs 0.1.
- `step_mm` (number): Spacing, mm
- `to_mm` (number, required): End plane, mm from the centre
- `units` (string): What the file's numbers mean. STL and OBJ carry no units.

### `xray_fusion_script` (~300 tokens)

Write a Fusion 360 script with one real sketch per slice, between two planes. With extrude, each slice is also extruded to the next, so the stack comes out as solid slabs. No STEP. Up to 500 slices and about four minutes of fitting: call plan_xray first.

Input parameters:

- `axis` (string, required): The axis the planes are square to
- `extrude` (boolean): Extrude each slice to the next: solid slabs
- `from_mm` (number, required): Start plane, mm from the centre
- `join` (number): Join loose section ends closer than this, mm (0 = never)
- `out_dir`: Folder for the results. Default: one folder per part under the output folder.
- `outline` (boolean): Closed outer outlines only
- `path` (string, required): Absolute path of the mesh file
- `scale` (number): Extra factor after units. Units only enlarge, so a cm design exported as mm needs 0.1.
- `step_mm` (number): Spacing, mm
- `to_mm` (number, required): End plane, mm from the centre
- `tol` (number): Fit tolerance for lines, arcs and splines, mm
- `trim` (number): Cut slivers thinner than this out of closed loops, mm (0 = off)
- `units` (string): What the file's numbers mean. STL and OBJ carry no units.

### `inspect_step` (~61 tokens)

Read a STEP file back the way a CAD program will: solids, faces, surface types, bounding box, volume, and whether it is closed and valid. Use it to check a result.

Input parameters:

- `path` (string, required): Absolute path of the .step file

### `preview_recipe` (~74 tokens)

Check a Blueprint recipe and draw it: four pictures (front, top, right, isometric), its size and volume, or the list of checks that failed. No files are written. Use it while reading a drawing.

Input parameters:

- `recipe` (object, required): The recipe; see stltosolid://blueprint/recipe-schema

### `build_recipe` (~117 tokens)

Build a Blueprint recipe into a STEP and a parametric Fusion 360 script (User Parameters, sketches, extrudes). The recipe is checked first and refused with the reasons if it cannot be built.

Input parameters:

- `out_dir`: Folder for the results. Default: one folder per part under the output folder.
- `recipe` (object, required): The recipe; see stltosolid://blueprint/recipe-schema
- `title`: Name for the part and its files
- `wait_s`: Seconds to wait before answering with a job_id

Output parameters:

- `elapsed_s`
- `error`
- `file_urls` (object): Download URLs, on a remote server
- `files` (object): Result files by kind, e.g. step, fusion_script
- `finished` (boolean): False means it is still going: call job_status again
- `job_id` (string)
- `log_tail` (array)
- `ok` (boolean): True only when it finished and wrote its result
- `report` (object): Route, deviations, face counts and surface types
- `status` (string): queued, running, done, error or cancelled
- `summary` (string): One sentence on where it stands

### `fusion_handoff` (~72 tokens)

The Python to run in Fusion 360 for a result, to pass to Autodesk's Fusion MCP script tool: the script itself for a .py, or a small importer for a .step. Only for files this server wrote.

Input parameters:

- `path` (string, required): A .py or .step result from this server
