## Trust breakdown

How this component scores in each security and reliability category. Every signal is checked automatically against the live server, and we only credit what we can confirm. Scores are 0–100 per category. Scoring method: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring (what has changed: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring/changelog)

Scored 2026-11-05.

- **Endpoint Security**: 80/100
  - The endpoint's TLS certificate is valid, in date, and uses a strong key.
  - No authorisation is required to call this server. Every tool declares its destructiveHint and none is destructive, so open access doesn't expose one.
  - HTTPS is enforced; there's no plaintext access path.
  - The HSTS (Strict-Transport-Security) header is present.
  - DNSSEC check failed: this domain isn't protected by DNSSEC.
- **Transport & Reachability**: 100/100
  - Verified streamable-http transport via a live MCP handshake.
- **Schema Quality & AI Usability**: 84/100
  - 100% of prompts and resources have a non-trivial description (not blank, and not just the item's name).
  - AI-judged instruction clarity (good).
  - Tool/resource definitions use about 1159 tokens (~105/item across 11 items; 10 tools + 1 resources), lean.
  - Usage-examples check failed: none of the tools include examples.
- **Stability & Change Management**: 67/100
  - Stability observed for 20 of 30 days with no destabilising changes; credit accrues until the full window elapses.
- **Tool Coverage**: 100/100
  - 100% of tools have a non-trivial description (not blank, and not just the tool's name).
  - 100% of tool parameters carry a description.
  - Structured output schemas are declared (100% of tools); any adoption earns full credit.
- **Tool Safety**: 100/100
  - No prompt-injection markers were found in the server instructions, tool names or descriptions we captured.
  - We read all 10 captured tool definition(s), and no name or description among them implies an irreversible operation.
  - An AI judge read all 12 captured unit(s) of tool text and found none that tries to manipulate the model reading it.
- **Capabilities**: 100/100
  - Implements a current MCP spec version (2026-07-28).
  - Supports UI / widget rendering.

## MCP tools (10)

### `search_aircraft` (~124 tokens)

Search aircraft types

Finds the aircraft types TrimCarbon has figures for, by name (e.g. "Cessna 172", "Skyhawk"), ICAO type designator (e.g. "C172", "PA28") or page slug. Returns each type with its kg of CO₂ per flight hour. The list covers about 60 general-aviation types, plus a few airliners (per passenger) and business jets.

Input parameters:

- `limit` (integer): Most types to return
- `query` (string, required): A name, ICAO type designator or page slug

Output parameters:

- `aircraft` (array)

### `estimate_flight_hours` (~121 tokens)

Estimate CO₂ from flight hours

Estimates the CO₂ from flying hours in one or more aircraft types: one row for a pilot, several rows for a fleet (a school, club or operator). CO₂ = hours × the type’s kg of CO₂ per flight hour, from its fuel flow at about 75% power. Types match by name, ICAO type designator or page slug.

Input parameters:

- `flights` (array, required): One row per aircraft type
- `period` (string): "year" when the hours are per year, "total" for a one-off total

Output parameters:

- `dataUpdated` (string): When the aircraft figures last changed
- `period` (string): "year" when the hours are per year, "total" for a one-off total
- `rows` (array)
- `tonnes` (number)
- `totalHours` (number)
- `totalKg` (number): kg of CO₂, rounded

### `estimate_fuel_burn` (~102 tokens)

Estimate CO₂ from fuel burned

Estimates the CO₂ from burning an amount of aviation fuel: avgas 100LL, mogas (motor gasoline) or Jet A, in US gallons, liters or kg. Uses the US EPA factor per US gallon and the fuel’s density for liters and kg.

Input parameters:

- `amount` (number, required): How much fuel, in `unit`
- `fuel` (string, required): The fuel burned
- `unit` (string, required): US gallons, liters or kg

Output parameters:

- `amount` (number)
- `dataUpdated` (string): When the fuel figures last changed
- `fuel` (string)
- `kg` (number): kg of CO₂, rounded
- `kgCo2PerUsGal` (number)
- `pageUrl` (string): The page that explains the factor
- `tonnes` (number)
- `unit` (string)

### `import_logbook` (~83 tokens)

Import a pilot logbook

Opens a card where the user picks a logbook export from ForeFlight, Garmin Pilot or LogTen. The card reads the file on the user’s device, uploads nothing, and shows the flight hours and CO₂ by aircraft type. The user can then share those totals with this conversation. Use it when someone wants the CO₂ of their flying from their logbook.

Output parameters:

- `formats` (array)
- `importerUrl` (string|null): The same importer on trimcarbon.com
- `methodUrl` (string): How the CO₂ per hour is worked out
- `mode` (string)

### `quote_offset` (~156 tokens)

Price an offset

Returns what TrimCarbon charges to offset an amount of CO₂: a one-time purchase in whole tonnes, and for yearly amounts the monthly and yearly plans. Each option has a link to continue on trimcarbon.com, where the user signs up and pays. This tool does not buy anything. It is for when the user asks what offsetting costs.

Input parameters:

- `aircraft` (string): The main aircraft type, to prefill sign-up
- `hours` (number): Hours per year, to prefill sign-up
- `kg` (integer, required): kg of CO₂ to offset, usually from an estimate tool
- `period` (string): "year" for yearly CO₂ (plans apply), "total" for a one-off amount

Output parameters:

- `contactUrl` (string): For amounts above the caps
- `currency` (string)
- `kg` (number)
- `monthly`
- `oneTime` (object)
- `period` (string)
- `yearly`

### `get_my_account` (~52 tokens)

Show my TrimCarbon account

Shows the signed-in TrimCarbon account: email, current offset plan (monthly or yearly, kg of CO₂ per period, renewal date) and offset API access. Needs the user to connect their TrimCarbon account.

Output parameters:

- `accountUrl` (string)
- `apiAccess`
- `email` (string)
- `language` (string)
- `name` (string|null)
- `plan`

### `get_my_impact` (~63 tokens)

Show my offset impact

Shows how much CO₂ the signed-in user has offset with TrimCarbon: the total, what is still being processed, by source (one-time, subscription, offset API), by year, and the projects funded. Needs the user to connect their TrimCarbon account.

Output parameters:

- `byKind` (array)

- `orders` (number): Placed or certified orders
- `projects` (array): Projects of the issued certificates, most kg first

### `list_my_offsets` (~66 tokens)

List my offsets

Lists the signed-in user’s TrimCarbon offset orders, newest first: date, source, kg of CO₂, status and the public certificate link once issued. Needs the user to connect their TrimCarbon account.

Input parameters:

- `limit` (integer): How many orders to list, newest first

Output parameters:

- `offsets` (array)
- `ordersUrl` (string)

Shows one of the signed-in user’s TrimCarbon certificates: kg of CO₂, holder, dates, projects with their registries and retirement serial numbers, and links to the public certificate and its PDF. Takes the certificate number (TC-7K2M-9QXF-4HJD) that list_my_offsets returns. Needs the user to connect their TrimCarbon account.

Input parameters:

- `certificate` (string, required): Certificate number, such as TC-7K2M-9QXF-4HJD

Output parameters:

## Common questions

### What is the TrimCarbon MCP server?

TrimCarbon is an MCP server listed in the public MCP registry as com.trimcarbon/flight-emissions. CO₂ estimates for general-aviation flying: by aircraft and hours, by fleet, or by fuel. This page covers its hosted endpoint (https://mcp.trimcarbon.com/mcp).

### Is the TrimCarbon MCP server safe to use?

TrimCarbon scores 85 out of 100 on VerifyMCP. That is a record of what we were able to check automatically, not an endorsement. The category breakdown on this page shows every signal behind the number, including the ones we could not confirm.

### What tools does the TrimCarbon MCP server expose?

TrimCarbon exposes 10 tools: search_aircraft, estimate_flight_hours, estimate_fuel_burn, import_logbook, quote_offset, and 5 more. Their descriptions and schemas cost roughly 939 tokens of context every time the server is loaded.

### Does the TrimCarbon MCP server require authentication?

No. We connected to TrimCarbon without credentials and it answered, so anything it exposes is reachable by anyone who knows the address.

### Is the TrimCarbon MCP server still maintained?

TrimCarbon is still listed as active in the MCP registry. We last reached this channel on 5 November 2026. Those dates come from our own scans of the registry and the channel itself, not from anything the publisher announced.
