## Trust breakdown

How this component scores in each security and reliability category. Every signal is checked automatically against the live server, and we only credit what we can confirm. Scores are 0–100 per category. Scoring method: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring (what has changed: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring/changelog)

Scored 2026-09-20.

- **Endpoint Security**: 63/100
  - The endpoint's TLS certificate is valid, in date, and uses a strong key.
  - Authorisation not fully verified: no authorisation is required to call this server, and 4 tool(s) never declared a destructiveHint. The MCP spec treats an absent hint as destructive by default, so we cannot call this surface safe.
  - HTTPS is enforced; there's no plaintext access path.
  - The HSTS (Strict-Transport-Security) header is present.
  - DNSSEC check failed: this domain isn't protected by DNSSEC.
- **Transport & Reachability**: 100/100
  - Verified streamable-http transport via a live MCP handshake.
- **Schema Quality & AI Usability**: 72/100
  - AI-judged instruction clarity (excellent).
  - Context-footprint check failed: tool/resource definitions use about 774 tokens (~193/item across 4 items; 4 tools + 0 resources), over budget; trim descriptions and params.
  - Usage-examples check failed: none of the tools include examples.
- **Stability & Change Management**: 73/100
  - Stability observed for 22 of 30 days with no destabilising changes; credit accrues until the full window elapses.
- **Tool Coverage**: 100/100
  - 100% of tools have a non-trivial description (not blank, and not just the tool's name).
  - 100% of tool parameters carry a description.
  - Structured output schemas are declared (100% of tools); any adoption earns full credit.
- **Tool Safety**: 100/100
  - No prompt-injection markers were found in the server instructions, tool names or descriptions we captured.
  - We read all 4 captured tool definition(s), and no name or description among them implies an irreversible operation.
  - An AI judge read all 5 captured unit(s) of tool text and found none that tries to manipulate the model reading it.
- **Capabilities**: 60/100
  - Spec-recency check failed: implements MCP spec 2025-06-18; the latest is 2026-07-28.

The mcpServers block is a cross-client convention. Remote transports vary, so check your client's docs.

## MCP tools (4)

### `get_transcript` (~206 tokens)

Get YouTube transcript

Fetch the transcript of a single YouTube video by URL or 11-character video ID. Serves the permanent cache instantly when available and otherwise fetches from YouTube (uncached fetches are limited per IP per day). Formats: clean text, timestamped, both, srt, vtt, md, json. Costs 0 credits. Example prompt: "Get the transcript of https://youtu.be/jNQXAC9IVRw."

Input parameters:

- `format` (string): Output format. Default "clean" (plain text). "timestamped" prefixes each line with a timestamp; srt/vtt are subtitle files; json is structured.
- `language` (string): Preferred caption language code such as "en" or "pt-BR". Optional; defaults to English with fallback to whatever track exists.
- `video_url` (string, required): YouTube video URL (watch, youtu.be, shorts, embed, live) or a bare 11-character video ID.

Output parameters:

- `channel` (string): Channel name when known.
- `characters` (integer): Length of the rendered transcript text.
- `format` (string): The output format that was rendered.
- `kind` (string): manual = creator captions, asr = auto-generated.
- `language` (string): Language of the DELIVERED track. May differ from the requested language when YouTube refuses on-the-fly translation; the text header says so when it happens.
- `title` (string): Video title when known.
- `video_id` (string): The 11-character YouTube video ID.

### `list_videos` (~141 tokens)

List videos in a channel or playlist

List the videos of a YouTube channel or playlist: date, video ID, and title for each. Use this to answer questions about a channel — pick the relevant videos by title, then call get_transcript for each one. Listings are cached for a few hours; a fresh enumeration counts against the same daily allowance as uncached fetches. Costs 0 credits. Example prompt: "List the videos in https://www.youtube.com/@TED."

Input parameters:

- `limit` (integer): Maximum videos to list, newest first for channels. Default 100, maximum 200.
- `url` (string, required): YouTube channel or playlist URL (also accepts @handles).

Output parameters:

- `shown` (integer): How many are included below (bounded by limit).
- `title` (string): Channel or playlist title when known.
- `truncated` (boolean): True when the source has more videos than one enumeration returns (500).
- `type` (string)
- `video_count` (integer): Total videos in the listing snapshot.
- `videos` (array)

### `get_bulk_download_link` (~102 tokens)

Get bulk download link

For a YouTube channel or playlist URL, returns a prefilled scripthaul.com link where the user can download every transcript as a ZIP for free. Bulk jobs cannot run over this keyless MCP server; they need the website. Costs 0 credits. Example prompt: "Give me a download link for every transcript in https://www.youtube.com/@TED."

Input parameters:

- `url` (string, required): YouTube channel or playlist URL (also accepts @handles).

Output parameters:

- `type` (string): What the input resolved to.
- `url` (string): Prefilled scripthaul.com link that starts the bulk download.

### `get_latest_videos` (~178 tokens)

Get latest channel or playlist videos

Read up to the newest 15 public RSS entries from exactly one channel or playlist, cached for ten minutes. Costs 0 credits and no cold-fetch allowance. Separate allowance: 30 requests per IP per day shared across channels and playlists, including cached reads; resets at midnight UTC. Use a UC channel ID, an already-resolved channel alias, or a public playlist ID/URL; an unknown handle must first be resolved on the keyed API. This is a recent window, not a complete inventory. Example prompt: "What did channel UCAuUUnT6oDeKwE6v1NGQxug upload recently?"

Input parameters:

- `channel` (string): UC channel ID, a /channel/UC… URL, or an already-resolved alias.
- `playlist` (string): Public YouTube playlist ID or URL.

Output parameters:

- `ok`
- `videos` (array)

## Common questions

### What is the ScriptHaul MCP server?

ScriptHaul is an MCP server listed in the public MCP registry as com.scripthaul/transcripts. Free YouTube transcripts, no API key: videos, channel lists, latest uploads, bulk download links. This page covers its hosted endpoint (https://scripthaul.com/mcp).

### Is the ScriptHaul MCP server safe to use?

ScriptHaul scores 75 out of 100 on VerifyMCP. That is a record of what we were able to check automatically, not an endorsement. The category breakdown on this page shows every signal behind the number, including the ones we could not confirm.

### What tools does the ScriptHaul MCP server expose?

ScriptHaul exposes 4 tools: get_transcript, list_videos, get_bulk_download_link, get_latest_videos. Their descriptions and schemas cost roughly 627 tokens of context every time the server is loaded.

### Does the ScriptHaul MCP server require authentication?

No. We connected to ScriptHaul without credentials and it answered, so anything it exposes is reachable by anyone who knows the address.

### Is the ScriptHaul MCP server still maintained?

ScriptHaul is still listed as active in the MCP registry. We last reached this channel on 20 September 2026. Those dates come from our own scans of the registry and the channel itself, not from anything the publisher announced.
