## Trust breakdown

How this component scores in each security and reliability category. Every signal is checked automatically against the live server, and we only credit what we can confirm. Scores are 0–100 per category. Scoring method: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring (what has changed: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring/changelog)

Scored 2026-11-05.

- **Endpoint Security**: 11/100
  - TLS not yet verified: we couldn't open a connection to check the certificate.
  - Authorisation not yet verified: we couldn't confirm whether this endpoint requires it.
  - HTTPS is enforced; there's no plaintext access path.
  - HSTS not yet verified: we couldn't read the response headers to check for it.
  - DNSSEC check failed: this domain isn't protected by DNSSEC.
- **Transport & Reachability**: 0/100
  - Transport check failed: declared streamable-http, but we couldn't connect to verify it.
- **Schema Quality & AI Usability**: 0/100
  - Schema not yet verified: we couldn't read the endpoint's schema, or could read only part of its tool list.
- **Stability & Change Management**: 0/100

- **Tool Coverage**: 0/100
  - Tool coverage not yet verified: we couldn't read the endpoint's tools, or could read only part of the list.
- **Tool Safety**: 0/100
  - Tool safety not yet verified: we couldn't read the endpoint's tools, or could read only part of the list.
- **Capabilities**: 0/100
  - Capabilities not yet verified: we couldn't read the endpoint's capabilities.

**Unverified: 5 categories.** Categories scored 0 because we could not verify them: authentication we do not have, an unreachable endpoint, or not enough scan history. We only credit what we can confirm.

## MCP tools (13)

### `render_pdf` (~180 tokens)

Render PDF

Render a PDF from exactly one source: html, markdown, url, template (+data) or template_id (+data). Returns the PDF as a base64 embedded resource. Each successful call uses one render from the account's monthly quota; nothing is stored. Over quota or invalid input returns a tool error explaining why.

Input parameters:

- `css` (string): Extra CSS to apply.
- `data` (object): JSON data for template or template_id.
- `html` (string): HTML document or fragment to render.
- `markdown` (string): Markdown to render.
- `options` (object)
- `template` (string): Inline Handlebars HTML template, filled with `data`.
- `template_id` (string): ID of a saved template (from list_templates), filled with `data`.
- `url` (string): Public http(s) URL to capture.

### `render_image` (~192 tokens)

Render image

Render a PNG image from exactly one source: html, markdown, url (a website screenshot), template (+data) or template_id (+data). Built-in 1200x630 social cards: tpl_og_article, tpl_og_product and tpl_og_announcement. Returns the image inline. Each successful call uses one render from the monthly quota; nothing is stored.

Input parameters:

- `css` (string): Extra CSS to apply.
- `data` (object): JSON data for template or template_id.
- `html` (string): HTML document or fragment to render.
- `markdown` (string): Markdown to render.
- `options` (object)
- `template` (string): Inline Handlebars HTML template, filled with `data`.
- `template_id` (string): ID of a saved template (from list_templates), filled with `data`.
- `url` (string): Public http(s) URL to capture.

### `merge_pdfs` (~59 tokens)

Merge PDFs

Join 2-50 PDFs into one, in order, optionally picking pages from each. Returns the merged PDF as a base64 resource. Uses one render from the monthly quota.

Input parameters:

- `filename` (string)
- `files` (array, required)

### `split_pdf` (~117 tokens)

Split PDF

Split a PDF. Send pages to extract one PDF, ranges for one PDF per range (returned as a zip), or every to split into chunks of N pages. Uses one render.

Input parameters:

- `every` (integer): Split into parts of this many pages.
- `file` (object, required): The PDF to split.
- `pages` (string): Pages like "1-3,5,8-" or "last". Ranges can run backwards ("last-1") to reverse order.
- `ranges` (array): One output PDF per range.

### `compress_pdf` (~91 tokens)

Compress PDF

Make a PDF smaller by recompressing and downscaling large images and cleaning unused data. Returns the original unchanged if it can't be made smaller. Uses one render.

Input parameters:

- `file` (object, required): The PDF to compress.
- `level` (string): low keeps the most quality; high makes the smallest file. Default medium.
- `remove_metadata` (boolean): Also strip title, author and XMP metadata.

### `watermark_pdf` (~168 tokens)

Watermark PDF

Stamp text (Latin characters) or a PNG/JPEG image onto a PDF's pages: centred and diagonal, tiled, or in a corner. Uses one render.

Input parameters:

- `color` (string): Hex text color, e.g. #c8155f.
- `file` (object, required): The PDF to watermark.
- `image` (object): PNG or JPEG image instead of text.
- `opacity` (number)
- `pages` (string): Pages like "1-3,5,8-" or "last". Ranges can run backwards ("last-1") to reverse order.
- `position` (string)
- `rotation` (number): Degrees. Defaults to the page diagonal for center and tile.
- `text` (string): Watermark text, up to 5 lines.

### `list_pdf_form_fields` (~54 tokens)

List PDF form fields

List a fillable PDF's form fields: name, type, current value, options and page. Use the names with fill_pdf_form. Does not use render quota.

Input parameters:

- `file` (object, required): The PDF form.

### `fill_pdf_form` (~118 tokens)

Fill PDF form

Fill a PDF form's fields by name (text, checkboxes as true/false, radio and dropdown options) and optionally flatten it so it can't be edited. Unknown field names are an error with suggestions. Uses one render.

Input parameters:

- `fields` (object, required): Field name to value: string, number, boolean, or a list for multi-select fields.
- `file` (object, required): The PDF form.
- `flatten` (boolean): Make the filled form read-only.
- `strict` (boolean): Default true. False skips unknown field names.

### `list_templates` (~56 tokens)

List templates

List every template saved in the PDFOven account, newest first, as JSON with id, name, engine and sample_data. Use an id with render_pdf/render_image (template_id) or get_template. Does not use render quota.

### `get_template` (~68 tokens)

Get template

Fetch one saved template in full: content, css, sample_data and page_options. Use it before update_template to see the current body. Does not use render quota.

Input parameters:

- `template_id` (string, required): Template ID, e.g. tpl_1a2b3c (from list_templates).

### `create_template` (~159 tokens)

Create template

Save a new reusable template to the account and return its id. Templates are capped per plan (Free 3); at the cap this returns a tool error. Render it later with render_pdf or render_image and template_id plus data.

Input parameters:

- `content` (string, required): Template body: Handlebars HTML ({{field}}, {{#each items}}) or Markdown.
- `css` (string): CSS applied when the template renders.
- `engine` (string): How content is interpreted. Default handlebars.
- `name` (string, required): Display name, 1-100 characters.
- `page_options` (object): Default PDF page settings for this template.
- `sample_data` (object): Example JSON data, used for previews and as documentation of the fields.

### `update_template` (~169 tokens)

Update template

Change a saved template. Only the fields you pass are replaced; others keep their current values. Future renders with this template_id use the new version immediately.

Input parameters:

- `content` (string): Template body: Handlebars HTML ({{field}}, {{#each items}}) or Markdown.
- `css` (string): CSS applied when the template renders.
- `engine` (string): How content is interpreted. Default handlebars.
- `name` (string): Display name, 1-100 characters.
- `page_options` (object): Default PDF page settings for this template.
- `sample_data` (object): Example JSON data, used for previews and as documentation of the fields.
- `template_id` (string, required): Template ID, e.g. tpl_1a2b3c (from list_templates).

### `delete_template` (~63 tokens)

Delete template

Permanently delete a saved template. This cannot be undone, and renders that reference its template_id will fail afterwards. Confirm with the user first.

Input parameters:

- `template_id` (string, required): Template ID, e.g. tpl_1a2b3c (from list_templates).

## Common questions

### What is the PDFOven MCP server?

PDFOven is an MCP server listed in the public MCP registry as com.pdfoven/pdfoven. Generate PDFs and images from HTML, Markdown, URLs or JSON templates. This page covers its hosted endpoint (https://pdfoven.com/mcp).

### Is the PDFOven MCP server safe to use?

PDFOven scores 85 out of 100 on VerifyMCP. That is a record of what we were able to check automatically, not an endorsement. The category breakdown on this page shows every signal behind the number, including the ones we could not confirm.

### What tools does the PDFOven MCP server expose?

PDFOven exposes 13 tools: render_pdf, render_image, merge_pdfs, split_pdf, compress_pdf, and 8 more. Their descriptions and schemas cost roughly 1,494 tokens of context every time the server is loaded.

### Does the PDFOven MCP server require authentication?

Its publisher declares that PDFOven requires credentials, so you will need to authorise it in your MCP client. We have not been able to confirm that against the live endpoint.

### Is the PDFOven MCP server still maintained?

PDFOven is still listed in the MCP registry, though our most recent checks did not reach this channel. We last reached this channel on 4 November 2026. Those dates come from our own scans of the registry and the channel itself, not from anything the publisher announced.
