## Trust breakdown

How this component scores in each security and reliability category. Every signal is checked automatically against the live server, and we only credit what we can confirm. Scores are 0–100 per category. Scoring method: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring (what has changed: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring/changelog)

Scored 2026-11-05.

- **Endpoint Security**: 80/100
  - The endpoint's TLS certificate is valid, in date, and uses a strong key.
  - No authorisation is required to call this server. Nothing on it is marked destructive, but we can't show that an anonymous caller can only read: full credit needs the server to list at least one tool and every tool to be verifiably read-only. We use a best-effort check of tool names and descriptions to tell read-only tools from tools that change things, so some genuinely read-only tools may not get full credit. Names that start with a read verb (get, list, read, search and similar) and accurate readOnlyHint annotations help. Meet that to earn full credit, or require authorisation.
  - HTTPS is enforced; there's no plaintext access path.
  - The HSTS (Strict-Transport-Security) header is present.
  - DNSSEC check failed: this domain isn't protected by DNSSEC.
- **Transport & Reachability**: 100/100
  - Verified streamable-http transport via a live MCP handshake.
- **Schema Quality & AI Usability**: 71/100
  - AI-judged instruction clarity (good).
  - Tool/resource definitions use about 533 tokens (~106/item across 5 items; 5 tools + 0 resources), lean.
  - Usage-examples check failed: none of the tools include examples.
- **Stability & Change Management**: 17/100
  - Stability observed for 5 of 30 days with no destabilising changes; credit accrues until the full window elapses.
- **Tool Coverage**: 83/100
  - 100% of tools have a non-trivial description (not blank, and not just the tool's name).
  - 50% of tool parameters carry a description.
- **Tool Safety**: 100/100
  - No prompt-injection markers were found in the server instructions, tool names or descriptions we captured.
  - We read all 5 captured tool definition(s), and no name or description among them implies an irreversible operation.
  - An AI judge read all 5 captured unit(s) of tool text and found none that tries to manipulate the model reading it.
- **Capabilities**: 100/100
  - Implements a current MCP spec version (2026-07-28).

The mcpServers block is a cross-client convention. Remote transports vary, so check your client's docs.

## Changelog

Every change recorded for this component, newest first. Days that predate change tracking, or that we cannot explain, say so: "we were watching and nothing happened" and "we were not watching" are different claims.

### 2026-11-05 (score 74, +1)

No change was recorded against any check on this day. Stability & Change Management went from 13 to 17. That category is still filling its 30-day observation window: 4 days of observed history at the previous scan, 5 at this one. The score rises as the window fills, whether or not the server changes.

### 2026-11-03 (score 73, +1)

No change was recorded against any check on this day. Stability & Change Management went from 7 to 10. That category is still filling its 30-day observation window: 2 days of observed history at the previous scan, 3 at this one. The score rises as the window fills, whether or not the server changes.

## MCP tools (5)

### `search_domains` (~152 tokens)

Search domain availability and price

Use this when someone wants to know whether specific domain names can be registered and what they cost. Checks up to 20 names (exact domains, or a name plus endings) with the live registrar and returns, for each, whether it can be registered, the first-year and renewal price in USD, and the reason when it cannot. For many names at once, use screen_domains first.

Input parameters:

- `domain` (string): One exact name, e.g. orbitnotes.com
- `domains` (array)
- `name` (string): A name without an ending, e.g. orbitnotes
- `tlds` (array): Endings to try with name, e.g. ["com","ai","dev"]

### `screen_domains` (~173 tokens)

Screen many domain names

Use this to check many names at once (up to 500, or one name across every ending with tlds ["all"]): whether each is already registered, from DNS and public registry records, with its registrar and expiry date. It is a quick screen, not the registrar's answer: confirm the names you will suggest with search_domains.

Input parameters:

- `details` (boolean): Fetch the registry record for taken names too (registrar, dates). Default: on for up to 20 names.
- `domains` (array)
- `name` (string): A name without an ending, e.g. noren
- `tlds` (array): Endings to try with name; ["all"] for every ending Nymwell sells; defaults to com, ai, dev, app, io, co, tw

### `domain_info` (~80 tokens)

Look up a domain's public records

Use this when someone asks about one existing domain: which registrar it is with, when it was registered and expires, whether it is locked, its nameservers and DNS host, its email setup (MX, SPF, DMARC) and whether its website answers over HTTPS. Public records only; owner contact details are not returned.

Input parameters:

- `domain` (string, required)

### `suggest_domains` (~54 tokens)

Suggest domain names

Use this when someone has a keyword or an idea but no name yet: returns domain names that fit it and can be registered now, with their prices.

Input parameters:

- `keyword` (string, required)
- `tlds` (array)

### `get_tld_info` (~74 tokens)

Get domain ending details

Use this when someone asks what a domain ending (such as .com, .ai or .io) costs or what its rules are: registration, renewal and transfer price, allowed terms, days left to renew after expiry, WHOIS privacy, DNSSEC and HSTS preload.

Input parameters:

- `tlds` (array)

## Common questions

### What is the Nymwell Lookup MCP server?

Nymwell Lookup is an MCP server listed in the public MCP registry as com.nymwell/lookup. Check domain availability and prices, and look up any domain's public records. Read-only. This page covers its hosted endpoint (https://nymwell.com/mcp/lookup).

### Is the Nymwell Lookup MCP server safe to use?

Nymwell Lookup scores 74 out of 100 on VerifyMCP. That is a record of what we were able to check automatically, not an endorsement. The category breakdown on this page shows every signal behind the number, including the ones we could not confirm.

### What tools does the Nymwell Lookup MCP server expose?

Nymwell Lookup exposes 5 tools: search_domains, screen_domains, domain_info, suggest_domains, get_tld_info. Their descriptions and schemas cost roughly 533 tokens of context every time the server is loaded.

### Does the Nymwell Lookup MCP server require authentication?

No. We connected to Nymwell Lookup without credentials and it answered, so anything it exposes is reachable by anyone who knows the address.

### Is the Nymwell Lookup MCP server still maintained?

Nymwell Lookup is still listed as active in the MCP registry. We last reached this channel on 5 November 2026. Those dates come from our own scans of the registry and the channel itself, not from anything the publisher announced.

### What did VerifyMCP test on the Nymwell Lookup MCP server?

VerifyMCP ran 13 checks on Nymwell Lookup, covering TLS certificate, Authorization, HTTPS, HSTS header and 9 more. Supply Chain Security and Provenance & Transparency do not apply to a hosted endpoint, so they were not tested. The score does not measure everything, and the scoring documentation lists what it leaves out.
