## Trust breakdown

How this component scores in each security and reliability category. Every signal is checked automatically against the live server, and we only credit what we can confirm. Scores are 0–100 per category. Scoring method: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring (what has changed: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring/changelog)

Scored 2026-11-05.

- **Endpoint Security**: 46/100
  - The endpoint's TLS certificate is valid, in date, and uses a strong key.
  - Authorisation check failed: no authorisation is required to call this server, and it exposes a tool marked destructive (cancel_alert).
  - HTTPS enforcement could not be verified: the plaintext port answered with HTTP 405, which proves neither a plaintext path nor enforcement.
  - HSTS check failed: the Strict-Transport-Security header is absent.
  - DNSSEC check failed: this domain isn't protected by DNSSEC.
- **Transport & Reachability**: 100/100
  - Verified streamable-http transport via a live MCP handshake.
- **Schema Quality & AI Usability**: 59/100
  - AI-judged instruction clarity (excellent).
  - Context-footprint check failed: tool/resource definitions use about 1741 tokens (~348/item across 5 items; 5 tools + 0 resources), over budget; trim descriptions and params.
  - Usage-examples check failed: none of the tools include examples.
- **Stability & Change Management**: 27/100
  - Stability observed for 8 of 30 days with no destabilising changes; credit accrues until the full window elapses.
- **Tool Coverage**: 100/100
  - 100% of tools have a non-trivial description (not blank, and not just the tool's name).
  - 100% of tool parameters carry a description.
- **Tool Safety**: 100/100
  - No prompt-injection markers were found in the server instructions, tool names or descriptions we captured.
  - We read all 5 captured tool definition(s), and no name or description among them implies an irreversible operation.
  - An AI judge read all 6 captured unit(s) of tool text and found none that tries to manipulate the model reading it.
- **Capabilities**: 100/100
  - Implements a current MCP spec version (2026-07-28).

Pass an ISBN-10 or ISBN-13 for an exact editio…

Input parameters:

- `country` (string): Country the buyer is in, as an ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code such as US, GB or DE. Defaults to US.
- `query` (string, required): ISBN-10, ISBN-13 (hyphens and spaces allowed) or title and author keywords, optionally with a price cap and attributes such as "first edition under $40"

### `list_sources` (~62 tokens)

List sources

List the bookseller catalogs Near Fine searches, each with the countries it serves. Pass a country to see only the sources that serve buyers there.

Input parameters:

- `country` (string): Only list sources serving buyers in this country (ISO 3166-1 alpha-2)

### `set_alert` (~258 tokens)

Set an alert

Set an alert on a search for the person. The first time, they sign in to Near Fine. Near Fine checks the alert for six months and emails them when a new listing turns up with everything the query asks for, such as a first edition, a signed copy or a price cap. On the Pro plan the alert keeps watching after a find and emails again when newer listings turn up; on other plans it stops after one email. The query reads as search_books reads it. Listings there already never count: the alert stays pending until its first check has noted them. Setting an alert that's already set keeps it as it is. Returns the alert, with its status and its link on Near Fine, and the person's plan: how many alerts it allows, how many are in use and how often each is checked. A full plan comes back as an error; paid plans, at plans_url, have more.

Input parameters:

- `country` (string, required): Country the book has to reach, as an ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code such as US, GB or DE
- `query` (string, required): ISBN or title and author keywords, with anything the person wants beyond the book, as in "wolf hall signed first edition under £200"

### `list_alerts` (~191 tokens)

List alerts

List the person's alerts on Near Fine. The first time, they sign in. Finds come first, then alerts being checked, then the rest, newest first. Each has its id, query, country, status, when it was set, last checked and runs until, a link to it on Near Fine, how many times it has emailed a find and when it last did, and, once it has found a listing, the cheapest it last found: its title, seller, condition, price and shipping in the person's currency, and the URL to buy it. Statuses: pending (noting what's listed already), live (watching, as a Pro alert stays after a find), found (emailed a find and stopped), ended (the person got the book or stopped it), expired (ran its six months) and paused (the plan has room for fewer alerts). Also returns the person's plan.

### `cancel_alert` (~68 tokens)

Cancel an alert

Cancel one of the person's alerts on Near Fine by its id, from list_alerts or set_alert, deleting it as its Delete button on Near Fine does. The first time, they sign in. Returns the cancelled alert and the person's plan.

Input parameters:

- `id` (integer, required): The alert’s id
