## Trust breakdown

How this component scores in each security and reliability category. Every signal is checked automatically against the live server, and we only credit what we can confirm. Scores are 0–100 per category. Scoring method: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring (what has changed: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring/changelog)

Scored 2026-10-23.

- **Endpoint Security**: 80/100
  - The endpoint's TLS certificate is valid, in date, and uses a strong key.
  - No authorisation is required to call this server. Every tool declares its destructiveHint and none is destructive, so open access doesn't expose one.
  - HTTPS is enforced; there's no plaintext access path.
  - The HSTS (Strict-Transport-Security) header is present.
  - DNSSEC check failed: this domain isn't protected by DNSSEC.
- **Transport & Reachability**: 100/100
  - Verified streamable-http transport via a live MCP handshake.
- **Schema Quality & AI Usability**: 65/100
  - AI-judged instruction clarity (excellent).
  - Context-footprint check failed: tool/resource definitions use about 937 tokens (~234/item across 4 items; 4 tools + 0 resources), over budget; trim descriptions and params.
  - Usage-examples check failed: none of the tools include examples.
- **Stability & Change Management**: 37/100
  - Stability observed for 11 of 30 days with no destabilising changes; credit accrues until the full window elapses.
- **Tool Coverage**: 95/100
  - 100% of tools have a non-trivial description (not blank, and not just the tool's name).
  - 85% of tool parameters carry a description.
- **Tool Safety**: 100/100
  - No prompt-injection markers were found in the server instructions, tool names or descriptions we captured.
  - We read all 4 captured tool definition(s), and no name or description among them implies an irreversible operation.
  - An AI judge read all 5 captured unit(s) of tool text and found none that tries to manipulate the model reading it.
- **Capabilities**: 100/100
  - Implements a current MCP spec version (2026-07-28).

## Changelog

Every change recorded for this component, newest first. Days that predate change tracking, or that we cannot explain, say so: "we were watching and nothing happened" and "we were not watching" are different claims.

### 2026-10-21 (score 76, +1)

No change was recorded against any check on this day. Stability & Change Management went from 27 to 30. That category is still filling its 30-day observation window: 8 days of observed history at the previous scan, 9 at this one. The score rises as the window fills, whether or not the server changes.

## MCP tools (4)

### `scan_website` (~245 tokens)

Scan a website

Run a measured health check of a public website homepage: speed (server response, page weight, scripts, image formats), security (HTTPS, certificate expiry, security headers), domain registration expiry, email authentication (MX, SPF, DMARC), search basics (title, description, headings, indexability, sitemap), AI search readiness (structured data, AI crawler rules, llms.txt) and contact paths (tap to call, forms, analytics). Every result is measured, not judged by a model, and each warn or fail comes with a fix and an effort level. Returns a 0 to 100 website score, the top fixes, and how the page appears in a search result. Results are cached for 24 hours. Use detail "full" to include passing checks.

Input parameters:

- `detail` (string): "summary" (default) lists only warn and fail checks; "full" lists every check.
- `sections` (array): Limit the report to these sections. Default: all seven.
- `url` (string, required): The website to scan, such as example.com or https://www.example.com/. Only public http and https sites on ports 80 and 443.

### `check_ai_search_readiness` (~119 tokens)

Check AI search readiness

Check whether AI assistants and answer engines can read and quote a public website: which AI crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended and others) its robots.txt allows or blocks, whether it publishes llms.txt, which structured data types it declares, how its title and description read, and the search and AI checks with fixes. Shares the 24 hour cache with scan_website.

Input parameters:

- `url` (string, required): The website to check, such as example.com. Only public http and https sites.

### `score_local_presence` (~419 tokens)

Score local presence

Score a local business on three pillars, website (45 percent), Google reviews (30 percent) and Google Business Profile (25 percent), and return an overall 0 to 100 score, a letter grade, each pillar with its verdict, and the top fixes. The website pillar comes from a live scan when a website is given. Review and profile facts (rating, review count, phone, address, hours) are supplied by the caller from the user or from a public listing; this tool does not look them up. A pillar with no facts is marked unknown and left out of the overall score rather than scored as zero.

Input parameters:

- `address` (string): Street address shown on the listing.
- `business_name` (string, required)
- `city` (string)
- `details_read` (boolean): True only when the full listing was read, including its hours and website link. Missing hours or a missing website are only scored when this is true.
- `emergency_service` (boolean): True when the listing says it takes emergency or after-hours work.
- `hours` (object): Published hours by day, for example {"Monday": "8 AM to 5 PM"}.
- `listing_seen` (boolean): True when the Google Business Profile was actually looked at. Defaults to true when a rating, review count or Google Maps URL is given.
- `open_24_7` (boolean): True when the listing says open 24 hours.
- `phone` (string): Phone number shown on the listing.
- `rating` (number): Google star rating, 1.0 to 5.0.
- `review_count` (integer): Number of Google reviews.
- `source_urls` (array): Where the listing facts came from, such as the Google Maps URL.
- `state` (string)
- `trade` (string): The trade in snake case, for example plumbing, hvac, roofing, electrical, dental, restaurant.
- `website` (string): The business website, if it has one. It is scanned live.

### `explain_check` (~83 tokens)

Explain a check

Explain one Site Check check by its id (as returned by scan_website): what it measures, the pass and fail thresholds, why it matters, how to fix it, and the typical effort. Static reference, no network access.

Input parameters:

- `check_id` (string, required): The check id, for example dmarc, ai-bots, llms or tap-to-call.

## Common questions

### What is the Site Check MCP server?

Site Check is an MCP server listed in the public MCP registry as com.modernmustardseed/site-check. Public website health scan, AI-crawler and structured-data readiness, and a local presence score. This page covers its hosted endpoint (https://mcp.modernmustardseed.com/site-check).

### Is the Site Check MCP server safe to use?

Site Check scores 76 out of 100 on VerifyMCP. That is a record of what we were able to check automatically, not an endorsement. The category breakdown on this page shows every signal behind the number, including the ones we could not confirm.

### What tools does the Site Check MCP server expose?

Site Check exposes 4 tools: scan_website, check_ai_search_readiness, score_local_presence, explain_check. Their descriptions and schemas cost roughly 866 tokens of context every time the server is loaded.

### Does the Site Check MCP server require authentication?

No. We connected to Site Check without credentials and it answered, so anything it exposes is reachable by anyone who knows the address.

### Is the Site Check MCP server still maintained?

Site Check is still listed as active in the MCP registry. We last reached this channel on 23 October 2026. Those dates come from our own scans of the registry and the channel itself, not from anything the publisher announced.
