## Trust breakdown

How this component scores in each security and reliability category. Every signal is checked automatically against the live server, and we only credit what we can confirm. Scores are 0–100 per category. Scoring method: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring (what has changed: https://verifymcp.io/docs/scoring/changelog)

Scored 2026-11-05.

- **Endpoint Security**: 80/100
  - The endpoint's TLS certificate is valid, in date, and uses a strong key.
  - No authorisation is required to call this server. Every tool declares its destructiveHint and none is destructive, so open access doesn't expose one.
  - HTTPS is enforced; there's no plaintext access path.
  - The HSTS (Strict-Transport-Security) header is present.
  - DNSSEC check failed: this domain isn't protected by DNSSEC.
- **Transport & Reachability**: 100/100
  - Verified streamable-http transport via a live MCP handshake.
- **Schema Quality & AI Usability**: 64/100
  - AI-judged instruction clarity (good).
  - Context-footprint check failed: tool/resource definitions use about 592 tokens (~197/item across 3 items; 3 tools + 0 resources), over budget; trim descriptions and params.
  - Usage-examples check failed: none of the tools include examples.
- **Stability & Change Management**: 10/100
  - Stability observed for 3 of 30 days with no destabilising changes; credit accrues until the full window elapses.
- **Tool Coverage**: 90/100
  - 100% of tools have a non-trivial description (not blank, and not just the tool's name).
  - 71% of tool parameters carry a description.
- **Tool Safety**: 100/100
  - No prompt-injection markers were found in the server instructions, tool names or descriptions we captured.
  - We read all 3 captured tool definition(s), and no name or description among them implies an irreversible operation.
  - An AI judge read all 4 captured unit(s) of tool text and found none that tries to manipulate the model reading it.
- **Capabilities**: 100/100
  - Implements a supported MCP spec version (2025-11-25); the latest is 2026-07-28.

## Install

### How do I install the ShipNote MCP server?

ShipNote is a hosted endpoint at https://www.shipnote.co/api/mcp/claude, so there is nothing to install locally. Ready-made configuration for Claude, Cursor, VS Code, Codex and 5 more is on this page, copied from each client's own documentation.

## Changelog

Every change recorded for this component, newest first. Days that predate change tracking, or that we cannot explain, say so: "we were watching and nothing happened" and "we were not watching" are different claims.

### 2026-11-04 (score 72, +1)

No change was recorded against any check on this day. Stability & Change Management went from 3 to 7. That category is still filling its 30-day observation window: 1 days of observed history at the previous scan, 2 at this one. The score rises as the window fills, whether or not the server changes.

### 2026-11-03 (score 71, 0)

- [functional improvement] Stability: unverified → 0.03

### 2026-11-02 (score 71)

First indexed and scored.

## MCP tools (3)

### `list_card_designs` (~85 tokens)

Browse card designs

List the occasions ShipNote makes postcards for, and the card designs available for one occasion, each with the id that create_draft accepts as design. Read-only: it saves nothing.

Input parameters:

- `occasion` (string): Occasion id from this tool's occasion list, e.g. wedding, baby-shower, thank-you. Without it, the tool returns the list of occasions.

### `quote_price` (~43 tokens)

Get a price quote

Price for printing, stamping and mailing a number of ShipNote postcards within the US. Read-only: it saves nothing and charges nothing.

Input parameters:

- `cardCount` (integer, required)

### `create_draft` (~379 tokens)

Save cards as a draft

Save a DRAFT of postcards, from a single card to one person (e.g. "send a thank-you postcard to my aunt") to a whole registry or guest list, and return a link where the sender adds their return address, reviews every card, and pays on shipnote.co. This tool never mails a card and never charges anyone. Each recipient is one card (one per household for a list): the name as it appears on the card, the full US mailing address as "Street, City, ST ZIP" (empty if unknown), and the gift as a short noun phrase without the store name (e.g. "stand mixer", not "KitchenAid stand mixer from Target"). senderName is the name the sender signs cards with; without it, the default message stays unsigned until the sender fills it in on shipnote.co. Up to 500 recipients per draft. Each call makes a new draft with a new link. This tool can't take a picture. A photo card (the sender's own picture as the whole front) is saved with design image-only, and the sender adds the photo on shipnote.co after opening the link; a photo inside a design uses a design marked (1 photo). list_card_designs also shows designs that need no photo.

Input parameters:

- `design` (string): A design id from list_card_designs for that occasion.
- `message` (string): The card message, with [RECIPIENT] and [GIFT_NAME] as placeholders ShipNote fills in for each card. Defaults to the occasion's standard message.
- `occasion` (string, required): Supported occasion id from list_card_designs.
- `recipients` (array, required)
- `senderName` (string): How the sender signs, e.g. "Sam & Alex". Replaces [YOUR NAME] and becomes the return-address name.

## Common questions

### What is the ShipNote MCP server?

ShipNote is an MCP server listed in the public MCP registry as co.shipnote/shipnote. Save thank-you postcards as a draft from a registry or guest list. ShipNote prints and mails them. This page covers its hosted endpoint (https://www.shipnote.co/api/mcp/claude).

### Is the ShipNote MCP server safe to use?

ShipNote scores 72 out of 100 on VerifyMCP. That is a record of what we were able to check automatically, not an endorsement. The category breakdown on this page shows every signal behind the number, including the ones we could not confirm.

### What tools does the ShipNote MCP server expose?

ShipNote exposes 3 tools: list_card_designs, quote_price, create_draft. Their descriptions and schemas cost roughly 507 tokens of context every time the server is loaded.

### Does the ShipNote MCP server require authentication?

No. We connected to ShipNote without credentials and it answered, so anything it exposes is reachable by anyone who knows the address.

### Is the ShipNote MCP server still maintained?

ShipNote is still listed as active in the MCP registry. We last reached this channel on 5 November 2026. Those dates come from our own scans of the registry and the channel itself, not from anything the publisher announced.
